scanovajr (361), Stanford, California, USA Aug 28, 2007 A brown beer with a nice head. Aroma is sweet and toffee. Taste is roasted malt, sweet, toffee. Very nice mouthfeel and noticeable alcohol. Notes of burnt sugar mgumby10 (1843), Jupiter, Florida, USA Aug 10, 2007 Pours dark brown, with a small off white head. Smells of sweet malts, caramel, and a little nuttiness. The taste was very sweet, much sweeter than expected. Huge malty, caramel sweetness just masks most everything else.I was hoping for some smoky nutty flavors, but no go here. Sweet finish and aftertaste with not much balance. I was either disappointed, or unhappy it wasnt what I was expecting. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Aug 4, 2007 This Belgian Strong Ale pours a deep brown color from a 33cl bottle. Medium sized white beige foamy head. Aroma is baked bread, earthy and sweet. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. Malts are very sweet, fruity, burnt sugar, plums, molasses and brown sugar. Some yeast and fruit esters here, but mostly the sweet malts. Nice soft mouthfeel. The flavor changes somewhat as it warms, it gets a little earthier and somewhat less sweet. Nice soft carbonation as well. Mouthfeel is soft and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet. Kirill (264), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 3, 2007 maybe i got a shitty bottle, but this just seems over sweetened to hide the alcohol and theres really not much else about this brew Bullit (1290), Glasgow, Scotland Aug 2, 2007 Dark ruby-red beer with a small disappearing beige head. Aroma is of alcohol, toffee and sweet dried fruits. Taste is very sweet, fruity. Lacks bitterness, alcohol is too present and way too sweet. Not my favourite. TaxiDriver (904), Stadland, Germany Aug 1, 2007 Bottle. Cola, alcoholic, malt, liquor, a little bit of caramel. Small off-white fizzy head, fully dimishing. Dark brown clear body. Sweet, a hint of bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, lively / fizzy carbonation. To alcoholic, to much carbonation - there are better ones. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jul 21, 2007 Ruddy brown, with a small white head. Fairly powerful nose hints of Brown sugar, plums, dates, red apple, golden apple, caramel, toffee and a bit of barnyard. Flavor is extremely sweet and very fruity. Honestly, I think it’s a pretty tasty beer. Well hidden alcohol, with a balanced flavor. This is a fairly tasty, enjoyable Belgian. lak20 (3), Budaörs, Hungary does not count Jul 17, 2007 A full-bodied velvety bier with a high alcohol percentage. The Syrah of beers. This is a heavy beer, but if drunk properly the alcohol is not overwhelming, it does not dominate the taste.
