COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong Belgian brown ale.
After extensive tasting, trying to fulfil increasingly strict requirements, the brewmaster obtains a creamy, dark Belgian brown ale: Kasteelbier. The quality of the past is still unmatched and the beloved taste is very much of the present. Kasteelbier is a dark, artisanal beer, soft and mild, full and creamy. It can age for many, many years, as indicated on the bottle. 11% abv, serve at 12°C (54°F) (Translation by Martinus)

Bottle at the Habbit in Ghent. It poured a very dark red-brown liquid with a small head. Fairly mild and sweet smell. Sweet and malty taste with chocolate, sugar and candy. It felt to sweet and one-sided.

bottle at café medeia, lisbon, portugal. Caramel aroma, brown color and very sweet taste. Texture is creamy and carbonation is average but overall too sweet for me.

From bottle, perhaps a little on the chilled side. Poured into the biggest fishbowl of a glass i’ve ever seen! little evidence of a head. light brown colour. Sweet on the nose, floral earthy notes maybe some bitterness. Light bitterness initially giving way to a surprising sweetness which lasts beyond the mouthful. Smooth palate but could perhaps be a little syrupy if your not a fan of the sweet flavour. Interesting...

Fles 33cl Kleur: Donkerbruin Een creme schuimkraag die erg snel verdwijnt. Geur: Licht zoet en alcoholisch. Smaak: Vol en een beetje zoet. Prikkelend op de tong. Medium koolzuur. Ook de alcohol is flink aanwezig. De nasmaak blijft lang hangen.

Poured a 33cL into a snifter. Almost no head. Dark reddish under the light color. Nice fig and alcohol aromas, although the alcohol nose dominates. Taste: SWEEEEET. To sweet. The sweetness dominates in this underattenuated beer, I do not really feel any hop presence.

Bottle poured into a tulip glass. Pours a dark brown with a slight reddish tint. Very small head that dissappears quickly. Medium carbonation, Nose is sweet, raisins, figs, vanilla. Taste is mostly the same, a bit milder than the nose. This is a sweet, messy beer. It is very unbalanced. Alcohol is very noticeable, but a 11%ABV not too bad. Worth trying, not a very drinkable beer.

Kasteel Bruin - bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass dark brown, small head. Dry-malty aroma. Starts strong-malty, roasty, a bit smokey, a bit like a stout. Finish fruity-malty, a bit unbalanced. Not too drinkable. Not my favourite.

Bottle.Pours brown with an off-white head.Aroma of caramel, nuts, malt and alcohol.Flavor is sweet and warming, marzipan with some bitterness and alcohol.Medium body, average carbonation.
