Alcohol evident immediately alongside sweet fruitiness. Thinner than expected but still coats mouth with malty caramel sweetness. Seems like a bit too much carbonation too - overall decent but not great. shorlin (373), St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada

Good looking beer, not much head. Lacing is OK, but not exceptional. Smell is complex, with some prunes and raisins. But the taste!! Oh wow. I’ve been missing out on real beer in the land of the 5% lager, but this is a real treat. Big Belgian Strong flavours, kind of like Trois Pistoles or something. Sweet, but not too much so. You really get the feeling of all the alcohol being there without it being overwhelming. I loved it! weepingsuds (222), Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA

The aroma is very nice, reminds me of others of the same variety. It has been years since I first had this brew, maybe back in 1999. The appearance is wonderful, but the flavor and palate are a bit sweet to my liking. I like a sweet beer, maybe Stille Nacht, but this doesnt sit as well. Overall this beer is excellent not the best Bruine you can buy but better than anything you can buy at your local Georgia Package Store, Brent Smith June 2005 MoritzF (4926), Bochum, Germany
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 7, 2005 (bottle, brewed anno 2004) Dark reddish brown colour with a small creamy off-white layer. Aroma of dried fruits (raisins and prunes) and molasses. Very sweet flavour, also sweet malty and sugary taste with hints of fruitiness and caramel. Although the alcohol is perfectly hidden by its immense sweetness, this one is way too sweet for my kind of taste. veronika (410), Sweden
