4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle, poured into Leffe Chalice. Dark, bronze edge, almost opaque. Towards the end of the pour a small tanned head bursted out, but faded straight away, tiny amount of lacing was retained. Initially the yeast and cranberry aroma was faint but it got stronger as the beer warmed. Tasted brown sugar, cranberry, cherries, yeast and molasses. Delayed buscuitlike finish, generally the booze was well hidden apart from a slight burn. To start with it had a prickly edge from the carbonation, smooth with a surprisingly light body for the high abv. Overall liked how it hid the booze, but need to explore a few more stronger dark Belgian beers to really place this.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
330ml bottle from Appellation Wines - Cheers Ash! Pours dark brown, thin ring of beige head. Kinda looks like coca cola. Aromas has booze, toffee, raisins, hint of marzipan. Taste is very sweet, again the cola likeness. More raisins and dark toffee. Too sweet for me.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark with small yellow cap. Bit too sweet for me taste, but with rich interesting taste, mild-mild bitterness afterwards.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330 ml bottle. This beer has a dark brown colour with a tan head that disappeared quickly. Sweet aroma with hints of caramel and coffee. The taste is very sweet with fruits, coffee, brown sugar and has a creamy feel. The alcohol is strong, but its taste is very well hidden. A nice beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
33cl in a Trappist glass. Pours a clear dark brown with hardly any carbonation or head. Aroma is pure malt sweetness. This beer is all about the sweet malt taste (figs, toffee, maybe dark fruits) with no hop character present - much like Samichlaus but without the kick (although at 11% it is not exactly subtle). Very nice winter brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml, 2004 vintage. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Dark fruits dominate with some yeast, earth, and caramel. Alcohol well hidden. For nearly 10 years old, this one aged nicely.
