Aroma of light roastiness, dried fruits, caramel malt, and some light chocolate as well. Taste was overly sweet, candy sugar, light dried fruits, and alcohol as well. Sweet and strong, not overly enjoyable. gnoff (3579), Göteborg, Sweden

Dark brown, little head. First spike of the aroma was tomatoes, sweet zingy tomatoes. Plenty of brown maltiness too though. First taste on the palate is exceptionally sweet, sugary sweet, and upon swallowing the first vapours to fill the mouth and nose are those of alcohol. The malt is drowned by those two aspects. Fairly pleasant though, and not a harsh 11% beer at all. Fin (3495), Merton, Oxfordshire, England
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 13, 2007 Bottle that came in a mixed box that I received for Christmas. This really took me by suprise quite simply superb. The beer poured a very dark brown colour with a great malt, molasses and spices in the aroma. this was so smooth and velvety enveloping your tongue with a multitude of flavours again a gorgeously rich malty sweetness yes the alcohol is always lingering around in the background but it never overpowers and as this beer warms it just improves and offers further facets of its character. This really was a top notch beer. CapFlu (3494), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

I spent the whole week and ALL weekend fighting the MSBlaster, Welchia and BigSO worm viruses on the network at work. Too early to declare victory but in the meantime - I'll celebrate! Cheers. Pours a medium, beige head and a near opaque red body. Nose of sweet malt and something tart - like a Flemish Sour Ale? Flavours of cocoa malt, red wine and alcohol. Very smooth and gentle - reminds me of Lagavunlin Scotch. Somewhat mossy finish. Lovely stuff. Thank you MartinT for the opportunity to experience this fine beer... I really cant see whats so good about it. The amber color and the offwhite head is ok, but the rest is all about sugar. Way too sweet and with too much alcohol coming through. This was not a good belgian... Quack-Duck (3358), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany
