Bottle. Kasteel Bier Bruin. Pours a clear dark red-brown with a bubbly fast disappearing off-white head. Sweet aroma of well toasted malt, alcohol and dark fruits. Flavour is quite sweet with alcohol, dark fruits, mildly roasted malt, good bitter hops. Sweet alcoholic finish with some biterness.

Aroma of smoked malt like in rauchbiers. Very, very sweet taste with porto, raisins, liquorice. Bit tart and smokey. Alcohol hidden behind the sweetness. Hopefully it will develop well after a few years. 2003 versin, tasted dec ’03. Malty sweet aroma with hints of cappuccino. Sugary sweet flavor with raisin and syrup. The alcohol is totally hidden by the sweetness. Too much for my tastebuds.

Brown colour with a baige head. Sweet raisin fruity aroma and a sweet berry taste. Medium to full body and a sweet light alcoholic finish.

A Mes rate: Head was poor and over all to quickly. Bubblegum hit to the aroma with some iron and seaweed and to the flavour too and slighty herbish. To me its just all sugar and alcohol. Sickly sweet. Personally I don’t see what the fuss is about. Its ok but far from great.

Bottle @ Samson, Nijmegen. Deep red with only a thin film head - lightly off white. Aroma is bready, dried fruits, raisins, some grapes; very nice fruity aroma all in all. Wondeful mouthfeel. Very sweet, lightly vinious, caramel, plums, raisins. Warms me up nicely. Perhaps a little too sweet.

(750ml bottle) Pours a murky brown body with a moderate creamy beige head. Aroma of raisins, toffee, plums, and malt. Rich flavor of molasses, raisins, dates, brown sugar, and malt. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel with a sweet finish

750ml bottle-pours thin tan head and dark brown color. Aroma is dark malt-rock candy/sweet, dark fruit-plum/raisin, sherry like, biting hops. Taste is very sweet/syrupy, dark malt-rock candy/sweet, dark fruit-plum/raisin, sherry like, biting hops, some molasses/licorice, cloying, also some dryness, huskiness. Nice, sipping. OK carbonation.

Big beer. Dark brown with medium white head. All malt aroma of toffee and fruits. The taste is extra sweet. Plums, caramel, malt, grapes. Very vinous, rich and warming, alcohol is noticeable in the finish. Almost syrupy mouthfeel. It would be interesting to age, but overall I must say I expected much more.
