COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong Belgian brown ale.
After extensive tasting, trying to fulfil increasingly strict requirements, the brewmaster obtains a creamy, dark Belgian brown ale: Kasteelbier. The quality of the past is still unmatched and the beloved taste is very much of the present. Kasteelbier is a dark, artisanal beer, soft and mild, full and creamy. It can age for many, many years, as indicated on the bottle. 11% abv, serve at 12°C (54°F) (Translation by Martinus)

Quite shocked to see these high ratings for this beer. I do not appreciate this beer at all to be honest. Aroma: The aroma starts off nice, sweet, caramel, chocolate, coffee, good actually. Appearance; What can I say it kind of resembles cola. Taste: Indrecibly sweet, the sweetness seems very, very, very forced. Like they brewed a beer and added molasses at the end. The taste of molasses (I think its molasses might be normal sugar though) is just to much. Palate: Strong tiny bubbles, nothing special here.(Nothin bad neither) Overall: I tend to dislike this one, WAY to sweet, the sweetness seems so forced. Definetly not my beer.

Warming alcohol and nice nutty brown color. Unfortunately that’s all i can say about this beer because it is so undrinkably sweet that I couldn’t even finish it. My least favourite beer ever.

No doubt it is the best beer i have tasted in this trip around Europe. I really like both the appearence and the flavor. Balanced bittter-sweet sinphony in a bottle.

Deep brown color. A very sweet beer, which makes it hard to drink much of it, but the taste is excellent.

Truly outstanding! This ale might be a wee bit sweet for some tastes, but it suits me very well. Superb complexity to accompany the malts, and very smooth and drinkable. A definite Karmaliet.

Bottle from Beautiful Beers. Pours lively with creamy head. Deep dark with red hue. Scent of strong molasses, cane sugar. Taste of dark sweet malts, molasses, roasted oats and some fruitiness. Too sweet for my liking.

Rich, malty, complex, fulfilling beer. A great example of a strong dark belgian ale.
