Jul 11, 2008 Deep mahogany brown color wiht a thin light brown head. Aroma is malty, somewhat yeasty, gblack cherries, roasted grains. Flavor is a lively sweet medley of cherries, figs, molasses and a touch of dark chocolate. Wonderful beer! Hops are not apparent, finish is lingering, alcohol warmth at the end.

May 24, 2008 Extreme toffe taste and malty. Good appearence, small head but good color. Brown murky body. Great and lasting sweet flavor. Soft on carbonation and a creamy texture. Great beer.

Mar 19, 2008 The head that it produces goes down pretty quick. It has a fruity almost champagne wiff to it at first. All in all a really good beer from Belgium.
Goes well with corned beef and cabbage on St. Patty’s Day.

Sep 15, 2008 This is a top 5 beer. The total bomb!! Richest beer since I can remember. Black color, not much head, good lacing. The flavor of powerful malts and lite hops makes this one Xtremely drinkable and rich. Touchdown!!!

Bottled. Comes in a real classy shallow tulip glass. Pours dark ruby with rich head. Toffee aroma, and once it is warmed up also roasted malt and burnt sugar. Sweet vinous and very malty. In a way quite remimiscent of a full bodied red wine. The mouthfeel is soft and it is arousingly flavourful. The balanced finish contains a slight trace of hop bitterness to balance the port wine.

May 29, 2003 Deep red brown body topped by a thin head with some lace. Slightly sweet malty aroma with caramel and fruit accents. Cloying caramel malt flavor with a touch of bitterness. Full bodied and suprisingly very smooth.

Dec 5, 2004 Bottle from LCBO. Deep brown-red colour. Very still body with a small tan head. Sweet aroma of prunes and chocolate toffee, with a strong bozzy punch. Flavour matches the aroma well, with the addition of licorice and raisins. Long, warming finish with some medicinal notes. I found the sweetness a little off-putting at first, but as the beer warmed up a bit, I got used to it and found this to be a fantastic winter warmer.
