COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong Belgian brown ale.
After extensive tasting, trying to fulfil increasingly strict requirements, the brewmaster obtains a creamy, dark Belgian brown ale: Kasteelbier. The quality of the past is still unmatched and the beloved taste is very much of the present. Kasteelbier is a dark, artisanal beer, soft and mild, full and creamy. It can age for many, many years, as indicated on the bottle. 11% abv, serve at 12°C (54°F) (Translation by Martinus)

(on bottle, thanx for sharing Mr. Brog) Deep brown, claer color. Extremly sweet on the coffee-caramel-side. Some melases and prunes too. Bit sugarish and sticky though.

One hell of a sweet beer. Maybe it will be better in front of a fireplace after a walk in the snow - since when we had it (or my friends did) in Ghent, it was too sweet and not suited for the meal we were eating.

This beer looks like dirty apple cider. It is sweeter than apple cider. This beer is incredibly sweet. It’s too sweet for my taste. It’s like a dessert beer.

An over rated beer to my taste. Just a bit too much of everything.... The high alcohol content is well felt.

Bottle. Cola, alcoholic, malt, liquor, a little bit of caramel. Small off-white fizzy head, fully dimishing. Dark brown clear body. Sweet, a hint of bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, lively / fizzy carbonation. To alcoholic, to much carbonation - there are better ones.

bottle at café medeia, lisbon, portugal. Caramel aroma, brown color and very sweet taste. Texture is creamy and carbonation is average but overall too sweet for me.

(bottle) pours a darkest brown colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of red wine, melted butter, chestnut honey and muesli, quite flowery. flavour is cloyingly sweet and sugary, with only hints of slightly roasted malts and chestnut honey. heavy-bodied with average carbonation. appallingly sweet.

Dark brown color. Head is very small. Smell of raisin, brown sugar and alcohol. Taste have notes of raisin, brown sugar and a lot of alcohol. Carbonation is flat, the body is full, texture is thick. It is very sweet and the alcohol is quite dominating. Its is almost lika a liqueur. Unlike many raters on this site, im not a sucker for beers with high amount of alcohol, so i am not impressed at all.
