COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong Belgian brown ale.
After extensive tasting, trying to fulfil increasingly strict requirements, the brewmaster obtains a creamy, dark Belgian brown ale: Kasteelbier. The quality of the past is still unmatched and the beloved taste is very much of the present. Kasteelbier is a dark, artisanal beer, soft and mild, full and creamy. It can age for many, many years, as indicated on the bottle. 11% abv, serve at 12°C (54°F) (Translation by Martinus)

Served at ambient temperature. Dark brown color and small head. Aroma is dark fruits and some cofee. Body is full, sweet and very licquorish with some citric hints, but mostly caramel. It’s not so complex, but its very pleasant to drink and the taste fills your mouth and nose.

Clear very dark brown color with creamy beige head. Aroma of caramel, fruits, a little roasty. Taste is heavy sweet with notes of caramel and warming alcohol finish. A bit sticky mouthfeel. Overall a very nice beer. Definitely worth of trying.

DWF; Bottle 75cl, drunk at Cardinal. Poured moderate, dark brown with a lasting creamy, lacing and lasting head. Nose is moderate to heavy, toasted malt, caramel, yeast, dark dried fruit, sugar and light spice. Taste is heavy sweet and light bitter with a caramel, lasting warming finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is lively.

33cl bottle. Dark bworn pour with a fine-grained beige head and visible carbonation. Dried fruit, like prunes, figs, raisins, alongside notes of caramel and subtle yeast. A bit too sweet for my taste.

Sample at Bryggeridagarna festival at Skansen, Stockholm. 2015 edition, from 750ml bottle. Great version, sweet without being too sugary and too much. Well hidden alcohol.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

Bottle sampled at home. Clear dark brown, with creme head. Jellybeans, winegums, some sugar, bready, malty, yeasty, gumball coatings. Sweet, faint bitter. About medium body, under average carbonation. Palate feels nice but very sweet and candy like, not at all what I like.

Pours dark brown with a red hue and a minimal tan head. The aroma contains raisin, licorice, caramel, chocolate, dark fruit and alcohol. The flavour kicks off medium to heavy sweet and ends only very light bitter. Full body, oily & sticky texture, soft carbonation. The alcohol kicks in after a while. Good for slow drinking. The Kasteelbier glass is very pretty as well.

Noire , pas de collet. Aromes caramel, pruneaux Le sucre esr trop present. Les 11 degrés amènent un côté liquoreux.

Flesje thuis gedronken. Donkerbruin helder bier met weinig beige schuim. Aroma is dropachtig, fruitig. Smaak is erg zoet met een vleugje zoethout. Weinig nasmaak, ebt snel weg.
