A strong Belgian brown ale.
After extensive tasting, trying to fulfil increasingly strict requirements, the brewmaster obtains a creamy, dark Belgian brown ale: Kasteelbier. The quality of the past is still unmatched and the beloved taste is very much of the present. Kasteelbier is a dark, artisanal beer, soft and mild, full and creamy. It can age for many, many years, as indicated on the bottle. 11% abv, serve at 12°C (54°F) (Translation by Martinus)

Tomada en numerosas ocasiones. La ultima vez en Cerveceria Kraken. Potente cerveza belga tostada de 11º. Oscura, potente, remate dulce. En el amplio campo de cervezas belgas una de mis preferidas. Para disfrutar lentamente.

33cl bottle at home. Pours a darkbrown colour with a beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, malts, syrup. Taste is very sweet with notes of brown sugar, malts, and something like chemical sweetner. Very sweet finish. Texture is oily with average carbonation. Too sweet for my taste

Sweet, malts, caramel, sugar, syrup.

Ruby/brown beer with a slight off-white head.

Very sweet with malts and caramel, the finish is pure sugar/sweet.

For such a highly rated beer, I found it awful. Shared a bottle with Dad and we both poured it out. Absolute syrup, way too sweet with a tangy metallic taste.

Aroma: chocolate, macerated dark fruits, some alcohol. Taste: moderate to strong sweeteness balanced with light fruity sourness and roasted bitterness. Flavour: sweet raisins and dried plums, chocolate, light almond bitterness, spicy notes like red sweet vermuth. Very good, sweet and strong but good balanced and drinkable.

Aroma is candy sugar, rich sweet malts, plum, raisin, and caramel. Taste is very much the same. That fruity and sweet richness is rich up front and mellows out smoothly with very light tang or burn on end. Appearance is a clear amber with a thin pearl head that retains quite well.

I like several things but hate others. Pours an opaque almost black brown with a fizzy beige head that dies instantly, heavy carbonation. The aroma is rich, caramel and toffee malts, heavy fruit notes with a candied like note. Too sweet overall with a syrupy like flavour, heavy prune and raisin notes, molasses, toffee and a finish of strong alcohol and residual sugar. Much too sweet profile.
