A strong Belgian brown ale.
After extensive tasting, trying to fulfil increasingly strict requirements, the brewmaster obtains a creamy, dark Belgian brown ale: Kasteelbier. The quality of the past is still unmatched and the beloved taste is very much of the present. Kasteelbier is a dark, artisanal beer, soft and mild, full and creamy. It can age for many, many years, as indicated on the bottle. 11% abv, serve at 12°C (54°F) (Translation by Martinus)

Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown with a small light brown creamy head that disappeared very quickly and had fair lacing. The aroma was of nutty malts with notes of brown sugar, raisons, dried fruit and a horseblanket yeast scent. It tasted sweet, rich and malty at the start but matured into a nice sweet-sour yeasty flavor. Mouthfeel was medium in body and nice and creamy in texture. Overall a very interesting brew, one definitely worth trying again.

Dark pitted fruit and hints of perfume fill the nose, while an opaque bark brown pour with a short lived tan head provide minimal lacing. The palate is lushly comprised of dark fruit, candi sugar sweetness, caramel notes, and somewhat vicious. The body is moderately full and the carbocation is soft. Smooth, pleasingly round mouthfeel with a bit of fizziness along the side of the tongue in the finish.

Dit was wat een tegenvaller na het blonde bier geprobeerd te hebben. Hier zat niet zoveel smaak aan

Very brown color with reddish hue, thin off white head. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Aroma of overripe fruit, caramelized sugar, yeast, malts. Medium to high sweetness. Not my cup of tea.

Almost fully dark bodied, some red hue. Minimal head. Too sugary, and beside that, I could still feel the alcohol. So, must say alcohol is not hidden well. Medium to full body, creamy texture. I had better.

Poured from a bottle into a Kasteel goblet at Taste of Belgium in Palm Beach, Aruba. Pours a dark reddish brown with only the slightest creamy ivory head. It dissipates quickly, leaving minimal lacing. The aroma reminds me of prune, but the sweetness is very evident in the nose. The taste follows the aroma. Prunes, plum and raisins with lots of caramel sweetness. Medium mouth, but the way it slides off the tongue gives it a light feel. It’s certainly different from the other quads I’ve tried, but it is so very good. I wish I could find this one closer to home.

Aroma: Yeast, Bubblegum, marrons; Appearance: dark brown, minimal head; Taste: high sweetness, slight sourness; Palate: slick texture, long finish, soft carbonation, medium body. A peculiar beer with mixture of duvel and milk stout properties. Sweet caramel-fruity overwhelming portoish aftertaste.

Una gran cervesa, caramel, alguns fruits . Espuma color marró claret es queda un parell de dits sempre. Molt recomanable.
