A tripel, as solid as a castle. A full bodied beer, brewed with Belgian hops, to enjoy quietly, with a powerful, distinctive flavour: flowery, hop bitterness and soft alcohol.

Bottle (330 ml). Clear golden with a huge slowly diminishing white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is quite sweet with light spiciness, lemony notes, alcohol and honey flowers. Taste is sweet (cloying) with spices, floral notes, alcohol and light bitterness. Medium body. Fizzy carbonation. Awful sticky alcohol and spices finish. Complete lack of balance. Cloying. Too much alcohol. Very unpleasant finish. Drain pour.

330ml bottle served in its own chalice glass. A: Slightly cloudy golden yellow color. Forming a creamy thin bubbled white head. Medium retention and lots of lingering lacings in the glass S: Sweet and fruity. Vanilla, honey, caramel malts, orange, peaches, sweet grains. Traditional notes of Belgian yeasts. A bit boozy in the end T: Sweet upfront. Notes of honey, vanilla, sweet grains, caramel malts, orange and peach notes, sweet bread, bready Belgian yeasts. In overall a bittersweet taste. Good hops bitterness in the end M: Heavy body with lots of carbonation. Bittersweet and very malty aftertaste O: Good drinkability. Classic Belgian Tripel. Good [ BA Review @ 4/11/2014 ]

The blond version of the popular Kasteelbier, originated in the nineties and originally called Kasteelbier Blond. Poured in its own majestic chalice, it shows a cream white, lacing, thin but remarkably stable head (especially in relation to the ABV, which is high even for a tripel), and a warm yellowish golden colour with faint orangey hue; even when keeping half an inch of deposit in the bottle, it is slightly but uniformly misty, with quiet bubbling on the edges, supporting the head. The nose gets malt sweetness even from a certain distance, next to bread dough, marmelade, honey, something faintly sulphuric (like striking a match or burning rubber), mango, melting butter, cheese, apple peel, ginger powder, butterscotch and wodka. Taste starts with smooth and rounded fruitiness (peach, apple), something caramel-like but not in a malty kind of way and medium, minerally carbonation; then a sweetish buttery flavour takes over, on a malt sweetish and somewhat grainy backbone with a strikingly creamy mouthfeel, leading to a dryish finish with a bit of yeastiness, herbal hop bitterishness (though not sufficient to balance out the initial sweetishness) and, more than anything else, a drying, astringent, wodka-like alcohol effect which leaves a wry effect in the throat. This is definitely not my kind of tripel: too sweet at first, too straightforward and too alcoholic in the end. Learn from Westmalle, mister Van Honsebrouck: the best Belgian tripels are about subtlety, and this thing clearly does not understand that word. Heck, I even know indiscriminating alcoholics who drink this all day long, in exactly the same way they would do with a strong lager - a genre I usually detest, and this to me is like the top-fermented equivalent of it. Never liked it, and this objective tasting could not bring me to other ideas.

0,33L bottle, BB 05.2017. Pours golden with white head. The head stays forever. Aroma is fresh fruits, malt, and yeast. Flavor is sweet and bitter, fresh fruits, malt, yeast, some spices. Finish is dry bitter. Carbonation is high. Alcohol is well covered for the ABV. Overall: nice brew.

Hazy orange, nice aroma, tasted of citrus (bitter orange) and yeast; a bit too bitter for me.

330ml bottle from St. Veronus. Transparent gold body with thick creamy white head. Belgian yeast notes, lime zest, apricot, peach. Elevated alcohol which lingers and defines the finish, warming.

Bottle 750ml. Clear light golden with low off-white head. Malty aroma, hay, mild fruitiness, notes of honey. Malty flavor, some fruitiness (cherry, pear), medium sourness, too alcoholic. Lively carbonation. Medium to full body. Sour sticky aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours exactly like a Pilsner, with disappointingfoam head. Aromas: booziness, hairspray, stale Pilsner, garlic, stir fried mushrooms. No, no. Taste is way too boozy, almost like white wine (including the sourness). Evolves to a cherry flavour, which in my opinion is best reserved for the darker styles. Hairspray in the aftertaste again. Did not enjoy this one bit I'm afraid.

Helder bier met een snel wegtrekkende witte schuimkraag, zacht aroma, niet slecht
