Doggythedog (1541), Split, Croatia Apr 3, 2007 Bottle at the Hopdevil in Zagreb, as Kasteel Triple 11° Poured a nice murky golden colour with a tiny head that went away fast (too cold ?). The nose is initially nice, bubblegum, cloves, yeast, hints of banana, but ruined a bit by a noticable presence of alcohol. The taste is damn sweet, weak banana, lemon, grapefruit, yeast... parfumey, with a strong, warming alcohol assault, that carries into the bitterish aftertaste. It isn’t bad, and doesn’t feel as big as trainwreck as its dark brother did. This could really benefit by, say, losing two or three alc.% or just hiding it and gaining just a tad more carbonation.... that’d be a winner in my opinion. RIght now, it’s far from a great beer. Ah, well... ekstedt (2411), Göteborg, Sweden Apr 2, 2007 Bottle. Slightly hazy, golden with streaks of orange, large fluffy white head. Some fruits, spices, and citrus hops, but most of all an overwhelming alcohol flavour which this beer lacks complexity to match. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Apr 1, 2007 a light blonde coloured beer, light spicy hop. bitter toungue edges lingering strong blonde not best in style but ok 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Mar 30, 2007 Bottle: Orangish straw, fairly clear, thin sudsy white head, dies quickly leaving nothing, lacing is non-existant, moderate carbonation.   Soft floral nose, extremely bready, slight alcohol.   Very bready on the tongue, cloves, alcohol if very apparent.   Slightly fruity too.   Body and mouthfeel are fairly moderate.   At 11% ABV, you can feel and taste it on the finish.   Somewhat of a beefy Triple, I wished it to be a bit more floral and less brutish.   Decent, if you like being punched in the stomach.
faroeviking (6016), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Mar 27, 2007 Bottle. Hazy golden champagneish pour with a very lively bubbly short lasting white head. Fresh aroma of yeast, citrus, alcohol and some clove. Bubbly soft mouthfeel. Sweet yeasty flavour with plenty of alcohol, citrus fruits, some maltiness. Alcoholic soft bitter finish. Tasty brew indeed! The slogan of Miller High Life fits for this beer: "The Champagne of beers". Thanks a bunch for bringing this back from Holland Morty! JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium Mar 25, 2007 Hmm, shouldn’t this actually be categorized as an abbey triple? Anyway: Clear golden color with a foamy white head. Vanilla is strong in aroma and flavor. I didn’t catch much citrus, but sugar and alcohol were both strong and bit out of balance. Mildly dry, but more hops would be nice. If this isn’t a tripel, then it’s a golden barley wine for those who like to taste honey and alcohol. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Mar 23, 2007 Pour is a pure golden with a large white head. Aroma is lots of vanilla and yeast. Flavor is very bitter with some vanilla and sharp citrus fruits. A bit of smokyness at the end with a even alcohol burn. Prob the best triple of the night in regards to flavor and aroma but the alcohol is powerful. illinismitty (1790), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 22, 2007 Draft at Sharp Edge Creekhouse in Crafton, PA. Pours a hazy pale gold with a dense white head. Nice Banana Clove estery aroma. Fine carbonation and faint watery texture. Initial flavor of clove, wheat malt, honey and pear. Dry finish has a sharp alcohol bite, with more clove and some chalkiness. Rubbing alcohol lingers on the palate. As it warms, the alcohol is not as aggressive. Rather disappointing.
