3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught. At Pizza Plant in Williamsport, NY. Poured hazy white-yellow with a good, thick white head. Had the standard suite of trippel/blonde aromas - lemon, ashy hops, sweet fruity malt, coriander and black pepper. Taste follows the nose - spicy, fruity (apricot), the alcohol is well behaved but evident, gets candyish and a tad harsh as it warms. Mouthfeel is creamy, fizzy and almost sticky. Overall a decent, very drinkable middle of the pack strong blonde.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fresh bottle, brand-new label. Havenít had this stuff in years, so Iím eager to get it on my tongue, again.
Clear, pale golden hued, with a twister of bubbles rising from the bottom, capped with a gorgeous, puffy, llacey layer of thick white froth.
Aroma is an angelic blend of citrus and spice, arousing and uplifting, floral, effervescent, with distinctive yeast aromatics, and a potent, but lovely blend of fruit (apricot, pear, lemon)...just what I love in a tripel!
Taste: Mmmmm! Tart, crisp, acidic, and brimming with flavor, in this case, as said before, a tasty mix of fruit and spice. Just a little sour, with a bracing grimace present at every sip, but releasing when the brew lays back, and the overall effect is utter relaxation and splendid refreshment.
11%? Who? What? The high abv isnít so apparent, but it becomes clearer after the imbiber has admired the zing, the zap, the ping on the palate. Once that flavor profile impresses, you lay back and wallow in it, the thought finally occurs, "oh, yeah, itís damned strong, too!"
(becomes ever-clearer halfway into the 750ml bottle, too!)
Full bodied, with a wicked, spicy/citric finish. And hanging heavy on the boozy side, too...for those who like that sort of thing...
Me, I love this stuff! I admit it does feel a bit one-sided, maybe a touch unbalanced, and perhaps over-the-top, but I still donít see the problem there. Itís bigness is not a detriment, itís an attribute that makes this tasty brew a true champ among tripels. If you want a real powerhouse, this hereís your dog!
Kasteel Tripel definitely deserves wider recognition and madder props than it gets...try a bottle out on some friends and see what happens.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Yeasy aroma that includes alcohol. Light and flowery. Good flavor, malt and yeast, flowers and light fruit. A delicate beer, better than the average triple.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A beautifull foam had my kasteelbier, it was not too cold. But there was too much alcohol taste.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
What can I say, but mere perfection in a glass. My favorite way to drink Kasteel is a whole bottle to myself in a large fishbowl, the beer barely makes it to the bulge of the glass. When you tilt the glass back to drink the CO2 thats been hiding trapped in this huge thing hits you in the face. There is so much aroma of fresh sea air, the bubbles seem to go on forever. I bought a case so I would know no light ever touched them I love this beer so much.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml bottle from Red Carpet Wine and Liquor in Glendale CA. Seems itís been there a while since the cork is dated 09-2003, so hopefully it has been treated well for the last 2 years.
Iíll re-rate when I get a bottle that Iím sure hasnít been mistreated.
Perhaps given too much sunlight-the aroma is a bit skunked.. unfortunate. Flavor is very sweet, maybe some butterscotch taste.. but that could be mistreatment. Very smooth drinking but it would be even more smooth if the sweetness was toned down a bit more. Looks beautiful in a standard Chimay trappist glass, nice color too. Leaves a strange aftertaste but maybe thatís me. I think now on Iíll stick to Leeís liquor because they know heat and light destroy beer and wine.. got this from Red Carpet Wine while searching for rare beers.
