A true contender for the best beer in the world. Deep, sharp, mellifluous. About the best thing you could drink before bed--heaven in a glass.

What can I say, but mere perfection in a glass. My favorite way to drink Kasteel is a whole bottle to myself in a large fishbowl, the beer barely makes it to the bulge of the glass. When you tilt the glass back to drink the CO2 thats been hiding trapped in this huge thing hits you in the face. There is so much aroma of fresh sea air, the bubbles seem to go on forever. I bought a case so I would know no light ever touched them I love this beer so much.

Champagne like, wonderfull crisp clean taste. Nice and strong but not enough to make your mouth pucker. I had both the Kasteels at Bavarian Lodge in Lisle and I must say I am becoming a fan of the brand. Slightly creamy and spicey. Not soomethng I would consider an everyday drink, but one that is great as a special treat.

Bottle... pours a rich golden color white a fluffy white head. Strong aroma that makes you actually want to drink it. A unique flavor with a hint of fruitiness, but just the right amount of hops that reminds you that you are drinking a beer. Good experience.

Truly girls stuff - made for me! Malty, rum-like, barley-wine like aroma - much alcohol in the nose. Nice hazelnut color with a medium head. Chocolaty, nutty flavor, sweet, but not to sweet. Smooth, almost silky. No dessert for me, just bring me this beer!

I wonder what happened to my rating for this. Maybe I forgot to enter it? Anyways, this is a nice spicy brew with a good flavor from start to finish and a great appearance. An excellent triple.

This ale pours with a dark gold color. When poured, a fairly substantial white foam head is produced, but not so great as Piraat Ale (10.5% ABV) or Augustijn Ale (8.0% ABV) from the Van Steenberge brewery of Ertvelde, Belgium.   This is a live beer, and since secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle, there is a relatively high amount of carbonation. This is also a beer style that will cellar well (if stored at appropriate temperatures) and it will actually improve with age. The incredible fact about this beer is that it has a 15 year shelf life! (Forget those ’born on’ dates!)   This is a big beer -- 11% ABV is a big number -- but the alcohol is not so overwhelming. This beer is actually quite easy to drink. Dare I say it? It can even be guzzled. The nose has a honey-malt sweetness. The palate is malty, sweet, filled with butterscotch and complex hop flavors, mellowed by a nutty, vanilla edge.
