A tripel, as solid as a castle. A full bodied beer, brewed with Belgian hops, to enjoy quietly, with a powerful, distinctive flavour: flowery, hop bitterness and soft alcohol.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, sugar, hops, yeast, antioxidant (ascorbic acid).

33cL bottle as Kasteel Triple / 11% / bottled 03/29/07. Aroma is a bit sweet, spice, light fruit and a hint of burnt sugar. Slightly orange gold color with a significant white head. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is slightly petroleum with sweet malt, a little sharp, peppery spice, and finally some yeast. The finish is dry, with some herbal hop notes. The alcohol is ever present, and the flavors are not strong enough to submerge it properly. It’s not burning, just always there. The malt liquor of Belgian ale?

Bottle (in NZ). Golden with a large foamy white head. Sweet yeast aroma, juicy ancd fruity with a peppery bite. In the mouth, it is the alcohol first, and then sugary sweetness. There is a hint of sour fruit and then the alcohol takes over again in the finish. Another that is too much about the alcohol without providing much in terms of palate and flavour.

Golden pour. Nose and tastes like an abbey hefeweizen hybrid. Strange. Rated 4/24/03

Appearance: 3/5 Slightly hazy yellow liquid with a small white head. Smell: 5/10 White wine, yeast, fruity, berries, sweet Taste: 7/10 Round taste, sweet, yeasty, fruity, Mouthfeel: 3/5 Medium thick body. Medium smooth. Comment: This was a bit odd, it smelled like a bottle of white wine but the taste was completely different. It had a round taste that melted in my mouth. The alcohol was very well hidden and I was very surprised to see 11% on the bottle. A fairly easy to drink beer but I didn’t enjoy the smell, way to much white wine.

Countbeer (4367) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - DEC 30, 2010
Bottle @ EODT’10: White foamy head on top of a clear yellow beer. Smell is a pretty bad mix of paint, malts, sweets and some spices and fruit. Taste is a mix of malts, sweets, fruit, tangerine, light honey and citric sugar. Acidic malty aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel, low body and low carbo.

Very light-colored and clear. Nose is quite spicy, sweet, with apple and banana. Flavor is fruity with loads of apples and quite strong, but doesn’t have the particular bite I expect from tripels, just not as distinctive and explosively flavored as normal. A bit too tart. Thin. Just didn’t do much for me.

Very unimpressive beer. Too sweet and lacking in body. Good alcohol kick though.

I didnt like this one as much as the Donker version. The alcahol is not well balanced to the rest of the beer, it is overwhelming.

The aroma has barnyard smells with cheese and sour kraut. The appearance is golden with a light haze. The flavor is cheery with lots of alcohol and yeast. There is also some sweetness and malt too, but worst of all it has a medicinal quality. Thankfully it’s very faint. The palate is average. The aftertaste is warming and fruity. This one is a little strange.
