A tripel, as solid as a castle. A full bodied beer, brewed with Belgian hops, to enjoy quietly, with a powerful, distinctive flavour: flowery, hop bitterness and soft alcohol.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, sugar, hops, yeast, antioxidant (ascorbic acid).

Pours a light pale clear yellow with fizzy white head. Aroma is kinda champagney, sour, alcohol, and peach. Flavor is pretty strong and alcoholish, warming sensation as it goes down, slight caramel, and some sour tartness. Overall, not impressive.

33cL bottle. The label says triple, but WOW the 11% ABV is noticeable. Iit poured a pale, clear yellow with a white, foamy head. Average beer that packs a punch.

Hmm, shouldn’t this actually be categorized as an abbey triple? Anyway: Clear golden color with a foamy white head. Vanilla is strong in aroma and flavor. I didn’t catch much citrus, but sugar and alcohol were both strong and bit out of balance. Mildly dry, but more hops would be nice. If this isn’t a tripel, then it’s a golden barley wine for those who like to taste honey and alcohol.

Bottle. Low white head. Hazy yellow body. Lemon aroma nice crispy and sharp. Bittersweer or actually quite sweet plus dominated by the high alcohol percentage.

33cL bottle as Kasteel Triple / 11% / bottled 03/29/07. Aroma is a bit sweet, spice, light fruit and a hint of burnt sugar. Slightly orange gold color with a significant white head. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is slightly petroleum with sweet malt, a little sharp, peppery spice, and finally some yeast. The finish is dry, with some herbal hop notes. The alcohol is ever present, and the flavors are not strong enough to submerge it properly. It’s not burning, just always there. The malt liquor of Belgian ale?

Bottle (in NZ). Golden with a large foamy white head. Sweet yeast aroma, juicy ancd fruity with a peppery bite. In the mouth, it is the alcohol first, and then sugary sweetness. There is a hint of sour fruit and then the alcohol takes over again in the finish. Another that is too much about the alcohol without providing much in terms of palate and flavour.

Hmm,I expected more from this one. Strong alcoholic feeling in the mouth, alcohol is a bit too dominating. Poured out in its own wide glass, with a small head.Aroma good, fresh, a bit of apple (?), sparkling flavor, but a bit too alcoholic

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy gold body with a frothy tight bubbled white head that had excellent retention. The nose is quite odd, it’s a little vegetal with some tropical fruits and lighter notes of marshmallow and yeast. Nothing like I expected. The flavor is seemingly a little odd as well, the malt is dull with some earthy yeast and marshmallow on the finish. A little too sweet for me with not much yeast derived flavors. Too old maybe? Mouthfeel is soft and lightly carbonated up front, but it gets a bit doughy and sticky on the finish. Overall, very much not what I was expecting, I will have to try this one again down the line sometime.

Golden pour. Nose and tastes like an abbey hefeweizen hybrid. Strange. Rated 4/24/03
