3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 26, 2011 Bottle dated May ’02, enjoyed 4/9/05. Light golden pour. Very fizzy, with a bit of a sweet honey smell. Taste is a sweet white wine, a touch of vanilla and a suggestion of oak. Just a little bitterness and then tartness with a sugary finish. I found this at Foremost Liquors, being closed out at $2.99. Why? They surely know Belgians stay pretty good as they age. Maybe because the labels were different from year to year.
Another 2002 bottle, enjoyed 5/31/07. Just as nice as before. Just noting a bit of cork in the initial swig. I’ve had a previous bottle that went way too tart, but this is still nicely sweet, with a contrasting dry finish. Crazy world, huh? This had a different label that I hoped meant it was the Donkel, but it still says "Golden" on it.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
BOTTLE 33CL. BB 09-2014.
Look: muddy orange with white head.
Aroma: malty and fruity with a distinct alcoholic punch. Some phenolic overtones too.
Taste: starts very dry (like a white wine), continues with a fruity and alcoholic wave, finishes somewhat thin.
A so so tripel, too alcoholic and thin bodied at the same time.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The waiter misunderstood my order for "Triple Karmeliet" for Kasteel Tripel.
My first beer had been a Chimay blonde, maybe that influenced my taste?
Anyway, I found nothing special in this beer, strong alcool content with some caramel added.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma - a champagne/alcohol like nose coupled with coriander spice, Belgian yeast, and some hoppy presence (doesn’t at all show up in the brew)
Appearance - golden body color; liquid is mostly clean and clear, just slightly hazed; the white head reaches about 1/4"
Taste - is sweet, but with an alcoholic quality as well. There is a fair amount of coriander spice, Belgian yeast, some acidic fruit qualities as well.
Palate - body is between light and medium; the texture is like that of a wine and spirit combined, but also somewhat thin; the carbonation is lively, but almost fizzy; finish is dry, and boozy

Alcohol way too prominent.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice light yellow gold color. Poured in original Kastell glass doesn't give much foam and it dissipates quickly anyway. Smells malt, sweetness and alcohol (it's an 11%). The taste is quite sweet for trippel and quite Belgian anyway, so I wouldn't call it my favorite. Overall a sweet Belgian trippel, but nothing making it special.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Hazy Gold with a nice top, a bit creamy. Alcohol dominates a bit too much; I understand that it is because of the high alcohol % but why have such a high level if it only dominates other aromas? Finish is rather short if not for the alcohol. Bitterness is OK

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle pours golden with a small head. Strong Belgium Tripel with a bit of a bitter hop taste. Not a bad beer.
