Sweet perfumed and very floral aroma with raspberry and white wine. Very sweet candyish, floral and perfumed flavor with notes of raspberry/black currant. Long warming deep finish. Tastes overpoweringly floral at first but more I drink this more I like. Very good dessert. FatPhil (3560), Espoo, Finland

A long way from the glass, there’s a lovely apple and honey aroma.
Closer up, it’s much denser on the honey, to be honest it’s nicer from
afar. Lovely soft and smooth palate, but also crisply acidic. While
it’s clearly a big bowl of honey, the perfumed aspects are delightful.
There’s something utterly transcendent in the taste too, some slightly
burnt caramalised corner, some dusty corkiness. Hard to describe,
quite different from prior miods. This just seems more aged. Wonderful
mead.
Rerate: just after having APIS poltorak. Seemed less sophisticated
this time. Hugely cakey - fruitcake with mixed peel, and spicy - cloves. coldbrewky (742), Saugerties, New York, USA

Oh how I love her so. A deep amber brown in the glass. Nose of oak and dark wild honey. Nose lingers and seemingly sticks to all it touches. Even the next morning the empty glass exudes this earthy pasture scent. Legs are drippy and still. Body is full, a bit slick and alcohol is absolutely un-de-tect-able. A rare treat from a rare treat. #500. Tranquillity (1181), Espoo, Finland

Definetily roses and orange (lemon?) in the finish, which is very long. Frank (1076), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 1, 2004 Updated: Jan 21, 2005Fiery amber orange. When swirled it sticks to the glass in little clear streaks. Nose is pungent with maple, cognac and honey. Taste is quite different—very sweet and spicy with notes of cinnamon, vanilla and to a lesser degree clove. Slick, oily mouthfeel. This reminds me a good deal of Sam Adams Utopias ($100/bottle) and also Thunderbird ($3/bottle). I’m not sure if that’s good or bad.
