Kathmandu premium beer is specially brewed with natural spring water from Godavari, Kunakhola spring. It has a unique flavor derived from the Australian and European malts plus the German & Czech, bohemian variety of Saaz hops. It has moderate alcohol percentage and is matured for more than two weeks to give a mellow and smooth flavor. It has a smooth and clean taste and Danish character on account of the pure culture yeast imported from Denmark. It has the unique distinction of the first beer imported from Nepal to the United Kingdom. 12.5°

Stronger and rounder, but it sadly brings out the average flavours the crispness of Everest did well to hide. Tastes a bit of rice pudding, which is fine if you’re tasting rice pudding but not so with a beer. Fosters-esque.

Bottle at Great Nepalese Restaurant, Euston, London. Pours a golden colour, with a small white head. Sweet, grassy aroma. Light bodied, average carbonation, light bitterness to finish. This appears to be a UK brewed version from the same people who are (were?) UK Importer.

Duft av humle og malt. Klar lys gyllen farge. Tykt hvitt skum. Frisk litt syrlig smak.

Bottle. It was not exactly fresh, so I could fathom all those oxidised honey notes but even without them I doubt this one could be any more drinkable. At least the oxidisation combined with pale malts resulted in a smell strongly reminiscent of cheap whisky. Well, that’s at least something original. Additionally, there is some corn, cardboard and rice in here. Sweetish, ’heavyish’ for what it is. I miss the crispness that is the whole point of industrial pale lagers. Sorry, nothing worth checking out.

Golden clear colour, white head. very mainstream lager with no maltiness and with very little hops or anything in general. Washes well down the spicy Nepalese food.

500 ml bottle @ Mount Sherpa, Kuopio. Thanks tiong!
Pours a pale golden colour with a small head. Large visible bubbles. Aroma of wet paper, grains and some grass. Flavour of strong wet paper notes, metals, soap, grass, grains. Light bodied, hard carbonation and a mild grainy finish. Bad.

500ml bottle @ Mount Sherpa, Kuopio

Pours clear golden with a small head. Aroma of crisp bready notes, starch and hints of metal. Taste is smooth, metallic and starchy with hints of malts. Finish is smooth, watery and easygoing. Decent pale lager, nothing special here.

Bottle in Kathmandu. Sweet, corny nose. Soft texture with prickly carbonation. Overriding sweetness (sugar, corn, milk). Mild, peppery, drying bitterness. Dry and vapid finish. Entirely unexciting and unflavored.

Bottle from Monty’s in Kingston. Smooth but lacking in much character, a touch of soap and a somewhat watery palate. Fine as curry fodder.
