4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is a definitive example of the Urtyp or lighter style Bavarian Helles. Light in body, thirst quenching but with some guts and a terrific balance. On draft it is superb!! Zum Schneider in lower Manhattan(best German bar in N.Y.C) went through 35 bbls. in 45 days!Hard to find but don't miss it if Hell is your style!

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Same sweetness as in the Aktien Edel from earlier - this might have a hair more hop closure and some faint sourness. Aroma wasn't as nice.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Light gold color. Medium head. Aroma is mildly malty, mildly floral and yeasty. A light bodied Dort/Hell. Malts are mild. Hops are mild. Flavor is mild. A mild beer, not anything bad to say, but not much else to say. It light and refreshing and has somewhat more flavor than water. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is dry, clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This seems to represent the Hell style well. It has a pleasant aroma with a smooth, malty flavor that’s appropriately mild and thirstquenching. Low carbo.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light yellow, dense particles ranging in size from tiny to medium. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly hoppy (herbs), moderately yeasty (dough, sweat). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Starts sweet, ends sour, not much aroma, yeast dominates.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
This is no Kolsch, nor does it ever pretend to be. I’m not sure where that came from. It is a hell, simple and plain. I mean that quite literally, this walks right down the middle for the style - a little malt, but not too much; a touch of dryness, but only a touch. Lacking in assertiveness, this would be okay as a quick pint after work, but not much else.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Flavor builds as it warms. Prunish with slight alcohol warmth. Typical in most respects.
