This is no Kolsch, nor does it ever pretend to be. I’m not sure where that came from. It is a hell, simple and plain. I mean that quite literally, this walks right down the middle for the style - a little malt, but not too much; a touch of dryness, but only a touch. Lacking in assertiveness, this would be okay as a quick pint after work, but not much else.

(500ml bottle) Crystal clear straw body with medium white head. Aroma is medium sweet, cookie dough, some floral, fruity. Taste is medium sweet, bread, some floral, fruity, light herbal/grassy. Watery light body, some crispness. Not bad, just generic.

Bottle, bought @ Ambrosetti, Berlin.
Pours pale golden with a small, fizzy, white head that soon disappears. Aroma is grassy, some sweet bready malts. Light citric. Medium carbonation, rather fat and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, bready malts, fine grassy bitterness. Light, lingering citric zest and fine dryness. A good bottled Helles.

Bottle. Smells malty. Gold color with a white head. A bit thin bodied, but has creamy carbonation. Kind of biscuit with noble hop. Very smooth and clean. Finishes reasonably dry with a light grassy hop bitter. Good in a bland sort of way. Course it’s really really good compared to Bud.

A: The pour is a crystal clear golden color with a fluffy white head on top. S: A crisp lager nose with notes of sweet malt and spicy and earthy hops. Not terribly complex, but nice. T: A really nice clean lager with some pleasant sweetness with perhaps a touch of fruity tartness (apples and lemons?). The hops are floral with just a mild bitterness. M: Fairly light on the tongue as you might expect from a lager, but not watery at all. D: Not usually my favorite style, but this one is really nicely done. Good clean flavors and a really refreshing beer.
