Bottle from State Line. Golden pour with off-white head. Aroma is hopcitric, with pale malt, mild Caro syrupy notes, and a pretty light palate heft, with crispness, but not much flavor density, primarily pale malt with backup hops and citrus notes.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 gnoff (4830) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - AUG 5, 2007
UPDATED: JUN 15, 2008 First rating (Draught at restaurant "La Vita" in München) Clear straw yellow color, fluffy white head. Sweet malty and of sirup scent. Sweet malty taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium high bitterness. I found it rather boring compared to most other beers I drank in München during my trip. 5/3/5/3/10=2.6
Second rating (50 cl bottle purchased at Ambrosetti in Berlin) On June 14, 2008 Clear golden color, white head. Malty, sweet and vegetable scent. Malty sweet taste, some butter. Moussy mouthfeel, low bitterness. 5/3/6/3/11=2.8
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 beerbuzzmontreal (3413) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 27, 2007
Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus and malt with very mild bread, the aroma feels dull even if the right elements are there. The flavor though feels more sharp, there’s a good presence of malt with citrus and mild fresh bread, it feels round and refreshing. The body is medium with an oily texture and moderate carbobnation. Not a great helles but it’s pleasant to drink in a hot summer day.

Bottle. Fresh malty, slightly grassy aroma. Malty, hay-like,slightly chalky flavor with some citrus and vanilla. Quite complex and tasty helles.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 3fourths (6218) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 21, 2007
500ml bottle. Filtered and clear medium dark yellow with a standard white medium-sized bubbled head. Dusty sweet nose of sweet corn and light dough and cracker. Flavor is similar, slick and sweet corn, some very light lemon zest and a wheat cracker flavor over the middle. Finishes slick and crisp. A decent beer, I dig helles more and more and this one wasn’t so bad. I think if I had this a few years ago I would have panned it but I’ve grown to really like a crisp and lightly sweet helles.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 JoeMcPhee (6835) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 7, 2007
500 ml bottle. Very pale straw colour, white lace. Thin pale malt aroma. Pretty fresh tasting. Very light grassy hop flavour over a soft pale malt backbone. Low bitterness. Not stellar, but it’s highly quaffable.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 raymondwave (931) - FINLAND - APR 11, 2007
Quite as basic as a helles can be. Had this one with pork and sauerkraut and can’t really recall much of the beers character. Maybe says something. Good and basic one without anythink funky pushing thru.
