3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 GT2 (5810) - Jurupa Valley, California, USA - MAR 27, 2011
500mL. Clear, deep bruin, deep reddish brown, tan bubbles, no real head formation. Aroma is heavy syrupy cherries, oatmeal malty, very Biere de Garde-ish. Taste is malty, syrupy, sweet, spicy, very sweet Biere de Garde cherry malty, oatmeal. Sweety, sort of artificial feeling mouthfeel- sugary, powdery. Malt insanity. Way too sweet for me.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Nuffield (3362) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - DEC 11, 2010
A little bit off kilter. Caramel and fruity, with a good bit of dough and bread. Initial appearances are good, but the lingering notes are sour (I can see the comment someone made about plum) and not entirely in harmony. Soft carbonation effects. Interesting and drinkable, just not especially memorable. Bottle.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Thorpe429 (4945) - , Illinois, USA - DEC 1, 2010
Pours a deep, dark brown with a nice off white head and some good lacing as it goes down. Smell is rich caramel and toffee along with hefty amounts of figs, dates, and other dark fruits. Slight hint of nuttiness as well. Taste really brings the dark fruits forward along with caramel and some candied brown sugar. Mouthfeel is fairly full and nicely warming without really being boozy. Very nice drinkability. Other than Andechser, probably the best Doppelbock that I’ve come across.

Clear dark reddish brown, very thin foamy head. Surprisingly sweet aroma - caramel and toast, maybe a whiff of bourbon or vanilla. Very heavy, almost distractingly so. Sweet and boozy at first, with a herbal finish.
