Over ripe bananas unsuccessfully try to hide behind raisins, heady winey malts and figs. Much more mild then the nose lets on. Toffee, figs, hints of earthy hops, more raisons, grape skins, and white bread. Finishes very clean with just a hint of dough.

0,5 liter (Maxima supermarket, Vilnius).

In short: A strong bronze beer with raisins & toffee. Overall too sweet for its own good. Meh
How: Tap at Kauno Alus (tap room adjacent to Kauno Alus brewery), Kaunas, Lithuania
The look: Clear bronze body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose has timid presence of raisins. Taste has some raisins, some toffee, some refined with and brown sugars. Doesn’t have the corpulence of mouthfeel of a true Doppelbock but does have the sweetness. My pint tasted like a bland dunkel after adding a dozen teaspoons of refined white sugars. A bit sticky because of the sweetness. The mouthfeel is lame but at least the extremely active carbonation (like a north-American macro) helps the beer to surf over the taste buds. Pretty lame beer. Quite an experience this visit to Kauno Alus taproom, the beers were bad, the place was a dirty dump, the ambiance was pathetic, I almost thought I died and I was in hell but there was not Nickleback music playing.

Bottle, from an ethnic food store in Scunthorpe. Deep chestnut red, thick, creamy and sustained off white head and moderate condition. Pleasant fruity sweet nose with hints of toffee and caramel, some buttery notes and a slightly roasted bitterness. Reasonably full bodied in the mouth with a solid tangy fruitiness and peppery spiciness balanced with a dry earthy bitterness, lingering fruit and malt in the finish.

Medium beige head. Dark amber body. (Stout?) Sugary butterscotch aroma. I can’t really detect anything else here. Sweet-dryish wild berry and roasty butterscotch taste with papery notes. Light body. Mild, soft, slick body. Dryish fruity caramel aftertaste is very light and short. Nice, and very light and fluffy. Probably not according to the purity law, this. Interesting beer, but definitely not a stout. (0.5l bottle, Maxima, Vilnius.)

Bottle, 4 years ago. The colour is absolutely not stoutish, but is suits the doppelbock: brownish-reddish. The head was high and brown, but short-lasting. Strong aroma, with a lot of hops, smells like pale lager. Quite full in taste, with some caramelly nottes, a litte sweetness and strong alcohol. Calling it a stout is utterly bizarre, but I’m rating it as a doppelbock.

Botella from a 24 hour Maxima super market in Vilnius. Clear amber brown colour. Sweet roasty caramel malty aroma. Quite sweet flavour with caramel roastish malt and some alcohol. Alco caramel brew.

500 ml bottle @ Poirotti, Helsinki. Reddish copper color, off-white head. Sweet flavor with chocolate and a rather alcohol-filled finish. Medium-full body, medium carbonation. Wouldn’t really call this a "stout(s)". Too sweet to drink a second time.
