A Resignation Recipe Brewed In Collaboration with Redhook. A toast lager with notes of chocolate and coffee. Unlike a heavy porter or a stout it’s amazingly light, crispy, and sessionable. KCCO Black is a delicious misfit.

Bottle from a swap. Black pour, thick beige head. Aroma is malt and caramel. A little sweet, no bitter, finish slightly sour. Taste - there isn’t any - the malt and caramel in the aroma are watered down. Very bland and boring.

Appealing purple color, garnet tinted brown kinda. Smallish head. Fairly accurate and typical schwarzbier, light chocolate/coffee nose, faint caramel-malt sweet smell. Flavor is semi-dry, with that nice dry cocoa finish, light nuttiness and a bit of cereal grain. No roast.

Better than its gimmickyness would suggest, but still very middle of the road. Pours dark brown with thin head. Nose is dry stout like with mild vanilla and butterscotch. Flavor is one dimensional but not bad - some instant coffee and bittersweet baking chocolate. I got at 9.99/24 bottles closeout a few months after I saw it debut at 8.99/6 pack. I think the price I got is a little closer to the right price than the SRP.

Picked up a 12oz bottle at Fresh Thyme Market in Cincinnati, Ohio. Pours a translucent, dark rootbeer color, with a thin head. A faint aroma of sweet coffee. Flavors also of roasty coffee and sweet, diet-cola-like notes...aftertaste is light and smoky, with savory undertones that remind me of bacon. Body seems pretty light (as you would expect from a dark lager), with fizzy carbonation. This is not amazing, but not bad either. Drinkable and fairly interesting.

12oz bottle. Poured a dark, cola color with a small, foamy white head. Aroma was light chocolate, some light sweet malts. Flavor was some crisp lager notes, light chocolate.

Gifted to me by my friend John Brockhaus - This is a fine, grainy schwarznier with an upfront burnt caramel prescence. I like this brew, and I thank my Cincinnati pal John for gifting it to me!

Very dark mahogany pour with thin, light tan head. Sweet & lightly toasted flavor with a super smooth mouth feel. Very good and closely resembles a sweet stout.

Bottle into stout glass. Not much aroma. Dark ruby black w thick pale head. Malty caramel dominates w not much of a hop profile. Hints of leather. Slight charcoal aftertaste. Light easy drinking black beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pretty decent schwarz beer. Light bodied.. But some nice fruity and coffee notes going on in the flavor and aromas. Decent.

Bottle. Chocolate and cola type aroma. Deep mahogany with a small tan head. Toasty malt and light chocolate flavor. Light body, lively carbonation.
