COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Resignation Recipe Brewed In Collaboration with Redhook. A toast lager with notes of chocolate and coffee. Unlike a heavy porter or a stout it’s amazingly light, crispy, and sessionable. KCCO Black is a delicious misfit.

Bottle from a swap. Black pour, thick beige head. Aroma is malt and caramel. A little sweet, no bitter, finish slightly sour. Taste - there isn’t any - the malt and caramel in the aroma are watered down. Very bland and boring.

Bottle. Pours clear black with a small fizzy tan head that dissipates quickly leaving decent lacing. Aroma is roasty, burned, ashes. Flavor is lightly smoky, roasty, ashy, light sweet and light bitter, some acidity. Lightish body, low carbonation. Decent.

Black pour with barely any head. Faint burnt malt aromas. Flavor is almost as expected but more watery and bland. Eh, whatever, its a gimmick beer, nothing special.

Bottled MAY 22 14. More than a little annoyed to be seen trying this, but I managed to snag only a 12 oz bottle. Nose is heavily roasty with light wood and strong tobacco singe, kind musty and sour, as if it had been stored improperly. Deep dark mahogany is closer to black with volume, has a fizzy short brown head. Malty medium body with roast, chocolate, faint coffee, lots of nice tobacco and ash, oh yes the ash, some mild berry/fruit in the back. Remains something of a third or fourth bar beer but it’s not so dirty or rough to avoid entirely.

12 oz. bottled Aug 06, 2014. Pours a clear deep mahogany with a ruby tint and a small spit of bubbles. Nose is coffee and scorched popcorn. Taste is scorched toast, mocha with a touch of caramel, and dry grass. Medium body has medium-high carbonation and a good balance. Not horrible, but definitely in the bottom 10% of the 27 schwarzbiers I’ve now rated.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber to brown body with a small fizzy beige head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is pretty solid, some licorice, roast, cocoa, and light roast coffee. Smells pretty well lagered, no fruity notes. The flavor is pretty decent as well, just a slight burnt caramel sweetness, a fair amount of licorice and roast, minimal chocolate and coffee. Light to medium bodied with a slight cling on the finish and soft fizzy carbonation. Pretty nice effort, I always appreciate a good Schwarzbier.

Bottle. Pours dark ruby red with a very small head that fades to a thin ring. Odd color for a black lager. Aroma is a bit faint but nice. Smoke, peanuts, molasses, cocoa, and burnt wood. Tastes smokey and burnt. Nice cured meat taste with hints of cocoa and nuts. A touch watery. A nice schwarz. Good flavor, a bit thin, but very easy to drink.

Bottle from Houston St. Drank straight from the bottle. Aroma is dark malts, roast, stifled puke. Flavor is roasty, dark malts, tough. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, smoke. Taste is very smoked meat, jerky, chocolate. Pretty gross really.

Thanks to iNBe. A strong roasted coffee flavor and soft malt but then kind of thin after that. More dark brown than black. And apparently the beer for people who like websites featuring funny pictures and/or women in their underwear. Serving: bottle

KCCO black originally imported from knoxville TN. Black is a medium red brown clear liquid with a fine head of tiny white bubbles. nose is sweet malt with just a hint of molasses. Taste is a crisp blend of some medium roasted malt, restrained hops and a little sweetness. body is thin though and the finish is short. a bit disappointing overall. i was expecting more body and depth of taste.
