A Resignation Recipe Brewed In Collaboration with Redhook. A toast lager with notes of chocolate and coffee. Unlike a heavy porter or a stout it’s amazingly light, crispy, and sessionable. KCCO Black is a delicious misfit.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown, near black with a frothy tan head; lasting on the sides. Smells of roasted malt, coffee, light fruit and must. Flavor is roasted malt, light coffee, fruit, and chocolate. Light bodied- crisp, dry finish.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours reddish-black, two inch khaki head, moderate lacing. Nose is roasted malts, coffee and hazel nut. Taste is bitter sweet, like semi-sweet chocolate. Medium body, low carbonation but is a little thin. Finishes slightly bitter with note of cocoa, coffee and roasted malts. Not bad for the style, lots of flavor for a lager brew.

Bought a 6-pack of this and enjoyed about 3 of them. Nice schwarz but a little bit too watery. I like to call it a lager as the label says.

Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that was mostly lasting and produced good lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, tiny bubbled, light beige head, with some lacing, over a clear brown (SRM 25) body......nose is light chocolate, cocoa, hints of coffee, no esters, slight herbal hops, balance to the malts.....taste is light chocolate, minimal coffee, slight sweetness, which has toffee/caramel tones, mild nuttiness, mild herbal bitter finish , no esters, balance to the malts.....mouth feel, light of medium body, slightly sticky, carbonation adds tingle. This falls well into the style. The malts are soft, roasted, not burnt, with subdued hops. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7

Rich cola coloured body with a plain brown glow and almost no head at all. Aroma of coffee, walnuts, pecans and a good amount of toasted malt - not too bad. Light-bodied; Strong nutty flavour throughout with a lot of pecans and walnuts and some light malt notes coupled with a hint of caramel. Aftertaste shows the nuts and malt with quite a big aftertaste from the nuts and leaves quite a big bitterness. Overall, not the worst beer i’ve had of course, but not leaving any exciting notes at all - some caramel and quite a big dose of nuts. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Giant Food in Falls Church, Virginia on 22-April-2014 for US$1.49 sampled at home in Washington on 06-July-2014.

Meh...it’s hard to believe those responsible for "Things That Bounce Thursdays" came up with this. Very basic and slightly watery schwarz. Aroma was pretty weak. Slight coffee aroma with not much else. Pour was a nice enough deep dark brown with a thin tan film for a head. Taste was better than the aroma. The coffee flavor was more full than the aroma. There was a distinct smokey flavor in there that I really enjoyed. Nice surprise. Finish was quick and watery. Nice carbonation.

7/5/2014. 12 oz. bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. Sweet malty aromas with dark fruit and chocolate. A bit thin mouth feel, but still very drinkable.

Head starts with a 2 finger beige rocky appearance that dissipates quickly leaving a thin foam top with thin but prevalent lacing. aroma is metallic with notes of coffee some light resin and very slight floral. Very flat taste with again a slight coffee and roasty nut flavor. There is little sweetness with a hoppy bitterness to the back end that is slight and fades quickly to a slight nutty flavor. Very moistening in to a dry feeling if that makes sense. I drinkable beer that is somewhat refreshing but i expected more honestly
