From the 12 fl. oz. bottle marked 12:50-3-FEB 16-14. A collaboration brew. I wonder if the one I’m drinking is from Redhook’s New Hampshire brewery. Dark brown pour but definitely not black. Interesting grainy and dark malt character. The body is light to medium. The taste does have a fine dark malt character at first that evolves into a modest bitterness at the end. Not perfect here but easy to drink.

Pretty tasty dark lager. A bit too strong on the coffee for my taste but if you into dark lagers this is one hell of a choice.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Deep and sulking ... intriguing, very enthralling aroma of roast. This drinks much like a coffee stout but without the heavy body. Very, very flavorful ... rich with java, yet light bodied, this is definitely a good drinker. (#5459, 3/13/2014)

Bottle from Bert’s
Clear dark brown color with ruby highlights and a smallish off white head that dissipates quickly. Caramel malt with a hint of chocolate and crusty bread makes up the majority of the aroma. The flavor is what I expected from the aroma. Toasted bread and light caramel and chocolate. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick smooth mouthfeel. Decent beer but less chocolate creamy mouthfeel than I usually expect from the style.

12oz bottle. Dark mahogany color, clear, very bubbly, small head though, and no lacing. Pretty medium taste, tows the line with the style, a little nutty, and a bit toasty. I don’t really taste the chocolate and just a little coffee. Nice aftertaste, not too strong. Palate is medium-light.
