Big brother to our Mother’s Milk, Joe Mama’s starts with out Mother’s Milk recipe. We then add copious amounts of brown sugar to add body and increase the alcohol. After primary fermentation we then infuse a cold coffee extract from our friends down the street, Monkey Joe’s Roasting Company.

Great aroma of dark roasty coffee and sweetened cream. Dark pour with tan head that leaves s nice film. mild lacing. Smooth mouth feel. A bit lighter than expected but still satisfying medium/light body. Very nice flavor. Milk assists and roasted coffee. Nicely done. I’m a fan.

Beautiful & delicious but imperial? Deep dark pour w/ a tan head & pretty ring of lading. The aroma is coffee w/ just a hint of sweetness. The flavor is roasted coffee but finishes a touch watery & slightly clean. It’s rather drinkable but doesn’t have the chewy body that an imperial needs. Still tasty tho & overall quite good!

Bottle into glass, Mohonk tasting. Opaque black coffee color, cream head. Roasted coffee nose, a touch of caramel. Sweet in the mouth, dark roast. Prominent coffee finish, lingering with coffee bitterness. Excellent stout!

This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds. Light speckled to somewhat stringy lacing clung to the glass. The smell had a nice sweet to bitter blend of coffee to milk chocolate. Light amounts of dark chocolate with some roasty coffee beans round it out. The taste was a nice blend of chocolate to coffee, sweet, bitter and roasty. And then a semi-wet coffee aftertaste leads into a sticky sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with an okay wet feel over my tongue. A little less body on my tongue. Overall, still a nice Imperial Stout that I would have again. Just a bit more sessionable than other Imperial Stouts.

Bottle. Pours a brownish-black color with a medium tan head that recedes to an outer ring. Aroma of roasted coffee and malt. Medium body with flavors of toasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The finish is semi-sweet chocolate with a mildly bitter coffee aftertaste. The alcohol is hidden well. I was thinking this was a sweet stout while drinking it.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that lasts leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is strong roast and bready malt. Thin mouth, brown sugar, coffee bean, light bitterness, good.

Growler fill from GAT Beer, NE Philadelphia. Poured opaque black with a small, thin dark tan head that was gone quickly. Aroma mixes notes of roasted coffee and molasses. Maybe some cocoa too. Body is medium and lightly oily, with a lightly dry finish. Flavor of roasted coffee with a sweet note underneath from the brown sugar. A touch of cream appears as it warms.

Pours opaque brown with explosively foamy mocha head, which persists as significant skim and lacing. Nose is coffee and cocoa. Palate follows suit along with caramelized sugar, hints of cherries and pepper in well-balanced combination. Mouthfeel is very creamy. That may be all the carbonation as much as the milk element, but it gentles the alcohol. Slight bitter grounds on finish, but this is a good ha’pint of coffee stout. I’ll look for it again when the weather turns cool.
