Tap at The Lark. As I approached the bar at The Lark last night, a friend welcomed me and suggested that I try something new on tap. The dark brown ale looked to be very dense and the slight aroma of roasted malts came forward. It was probably too cold at the time to illicit anything more than the malts for my nose to enjoy, but I went ahead with the first taste to see what it was like. I found the delicious milk stout to be similar to one of my favorites from Colorado and when it warmed up a little, the subtle chocolates and chalky cocoa elements surfaced. As the slight lacing descended in the glass, I knew my friendís suggestion had been perfect starter for my beer groupís meeting that evening and to share with other friends who would soon darken the door.

Very good, the coffee is well balanced and tasty. This nicely fills out the also good but slightly thin Motherís Milk.

Pours nearly opaque coffee with a light tan head. Aroma delivers peppery, roast malt and molasses tones. Flavor echoes the aroma, peppery but not fiercely so - Iíve had beers that could turn your mouth into a set from "The Towering Inferno," but this ainít one of them. Roast malt, molasses and chocolate round out the pleasing flavor. Body presents good firmness and fizz. Got milk?

Bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Flavor of black coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, vanilla and had some smokiness with a dry & roasty finish.

12 oz gift from Stacy - Nice two stroke color, cocoa lace, many layers on the palate. However, stout it is not.

Great aroma of dark roasty coffee and sweetened cream. Dark pour with tan head that leaves s nice film. mild lacing. Smooth mouth feel. A bit lighter than expected but still satisfying medium/light body. Very nice flavor. Milk assists and roasted coffee. Nicely done. Iím a fan.

Beautiful & delicious but imperial? Deep dark pour w/ a tan head & pretty ring of lading. The aroma is coffee w/ just a hint of sweetness. The flavor is roasted coffee but finishes a touch watery & slightly clean. Itís rather drinkable but doesnít have the chewy body that an imperial needs. Still tasty tho & overall quite good!

Bottle into glass, Mohonk tasting. Opaque black coffee color, cream head. Roasted coffee nose, a touch of caramel. Sweet in the mouth, dark roast. Prominent coffee finish, lingering with coffee bitterness. Excellent stout!

This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds. Light speckled to somewhat stringy lacing clung to the glass. The smell had a nice sweet to bitter blend of coffee to milk chocolate. Light amounts of dark chocolate with some roasty coffee beans round it out. The taste was a nice blend of chocolate to coffee, sweet, bitter and roasty. And then a semi-wet coffee aftertaste leads into a sticky sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with an okay wet feel over my tongue. A little less body on my tongue. Overall, still a nice Imperial Stout that I would have again. Just a bit more sessionable than other Imperial Stouts.

Bottle. Pours a brownish-black color with a medium tan head that recedes to an outer ring. Aroma of roasted coffee and malt. Medium body with flavors of toasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The finish is semi-sweet chocolate with a mildly bitter coffee aftertaste. The alcohol is hidden well. I was thinking this was a sweet stout while drinking it.
