COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big brother to our Mother’s Milk, Joe Mama’s starts with out Mother’s Milk recipe. We then add copious amounts of brown sugar to add body and increase the alcohol. After primary fermentation we then infuse a cold coffee extract from our friends down the street, Monkey Joe’s Roasting Company.

Deep brown black pour with thick sticky dark brown head. The nose is loded with rich coffeish aroma. The base malt has a lot of cocoa and dark crystal as well, but the coffee is definitely the standout. Well integrate with an intense, but never vegetal coffee flavour. Lots of richness and sweetness that helps with the intense coffeeish bitterness on the back. Lovely, rich coffee stout.

Bottle from beer of the month club. Coffee smell and dark brown pour. Good white head. Medium thick mouthfeel and sweet roasted malt and coffee taste. One o the better coffee beers. ---Rated via my mouth

This beer is a brownish-black color with a medium tan head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee and malt. Medium body with flavors of toasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The finish is semi-sweet chocolate with a mildly bitter coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pours black with a tan head that disappears quickly. Pleasant coffee aroma and a similar taste. The coffee taste is a little overpowering at first but overall this is a very good stout.

Joe Mama’s Milk from the bottle (hah) is a thin coffee stout that’s totally replaceable. It reminds me of Central Waters’ Coffee Stout, which I didn’t really like either. There’s not much coffee at all in the aroma (what’s there is burnt), and none in the taste. The aroma is all malt, the taste is all sugar. There’s no trace of 8% alcohol, which would be welcome for some, but for me is the same as a sugary cocktail. It does look great, and it has a clean finish, so this is a milk stout you could drink all night. Plus the flavors are balanced, even though they are tame. So it’s not without its positives. But still, for a highly rated beer, and one that I was very excited to have arrive at my local shop, this brew is a let-down. Back to Green Flash’s Double Stout for me!

12 oz bottle. Last beer of the month sampler. Pours a dark color with a light tan head. Smells of a weird roasted "coffee"(?) smell, that overpowers any other aroma possibly in there. The taste is thankfully much more tame; a nice roasted coffee flavor, with a sweet cream flavor that smooths it out. Not terribly full-bodied, but overall a pretty decent beer.

A: Dark and hazy black body with a decent, though thin, mocha head. Good lacing down the pint glass. S: An intoxicating coffee aroma. Sweet chocolate as well. T: The coffee is still plentiful, but it’s complemented very well by milk chocolate. Vanilla there too, as well as some possible cinnamon and nutmeg. Coffee is Americano, not espresso. M: Good, but not very full as a big stout can be. Light. D: Nice and pleasant, especially for the coffee lover.

Keg at Brouwerij Lane, Brooklyn. Pours dark brown with a moderate, beige cream cap. Milk chocolate aroma, light roast, some filter coffee. Medium sweet flavor, big coffee character, cocoa, light roast. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Sweet finish, good roastiness, coffee, mild lacto sugars, milk chocolate. Nice.

sampled on tap. Pours pitch black with a thin brown head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate up front some roasted malt in the backround. Flavor is heavy on the bitter coffee side, with slight chocolate nib and brown sugar/molassas. Body is medium and finish leaves a coffee flavor
