Surprisngly tart at first, almost winey or fruity, then a smooth coffee-ish, dark chocolatey finish. Thanks to Springslicker for this one! wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA

Smells like oats, chocolate, milk, caramel and coffee. Sweet and complex flavors a candy taste on top of the coffee. Very smooth palate with espresso and chocolate. A damn good stout. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

Smell is roasted, sweet, chocolate, milk?, oats, malts. Taste is rich and sweet, sort of sour (in a good way), complex, and interesting. Not bad at all actually. Should be really good as it warms up to closer to room temp. Thanks Joe. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 21, 2006 Watery pour to a deep, translucent midnight brown color and a creamy, thick tan wrung and crater sheaf for the head. Aroma is boisterous: black patent, dark chocolate, mild black licorice, espresso grinds and moderate milky mocha coolers. It’s a rich, dark display. Dry dark chocolate flavors crumble in the mouth with a force possessed by espresso and hammered mocha beans. Room temperature french roast and course coffee grinds. Burnt licorice root and scorched pumpernickel toast. Overcarbonated, spawning belchy quaffs, and it’s quite distracting. Bitter sway is emphasized and encouraged by the roasted barley and black patent. Rye party loaves forgotten in an unflinching broiler projects in the finish, chased with dark chocolate slab shavings and enhanced espresso grinds. Thanks for the bottle, tpkenned! Aroma is roasted malts, coffee and chocolate along with a slightly dusty cotton aroma. Body is flat black with a creamy, two finger thick, mocha head that diminshes slowly. Some roasted bitterness in the fore followed by sweet and creamy milk laded coffee, milk chocolate and more bitterness through the middle. and lingering into the finish. Finish is dry, but tart and bitter as well. Has some decent elelments, but never really wows. beastiefan2k (1597), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2006 Beer pours opaque black with a dark tan/light brown head. The head turns to lacing quickly but the lacing stays for a while. The aroma is present, roasty coffe, cream and a piney hop in the background. The taste is also roasty and the ony lactose I can detect is a faint chocolate- millk like aftertaste. Medium body, slight bitterness. A very nice stout. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
