COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mother’s Milk, as the name implies, is a dark and creamy milk stout. Hints of oatmeal, chocolate and of course, milk make Mother’s Milk’s remarkably smooth and silky finish a classic example of the style.

Toast and coffee, a good breakfast beer. Dark black, with no speakable head. Light chocolate, some tea flavor. Ginger? Light feel. A good beer.

Rating #70 for 2012. 7/1/12, 12 oz bottle cold from a tulip glass. Warm aroma of cinnamon and sugar like a freshly baked scone. Opaque nearly black liquid with a 1 inch tan head that quickly fades and leaves tightly bubbled lacing. Taste was sweet and creamy, a well balanced common stout. Palate, starts with a high carbonation mellows to medium as it warms, finishes thin.

Nice chocolate and coffee aroma. Nut brown head which dissipates quickly. Sweet taste goes down smooth, no bitterness or aftertaste.

Bottle, nose pf pretty sticky malt, lightly of malted milk balls, nice bop roast and dark chocolate, char, and a little smoke. Dark brown-black with an ephemeral, soft dark brown head. Lightly acidic in the mouth, hard roast and a little coffee, faint milk chocolate under light tar and ash. Tough light-medium body. Nice little rough-edged stout, just how I like them!

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market, Darien. Pours a clear very dark brown color with a thin fizzy tan head that quickly fades. Aroma of nutty and roasty notes with a sweet lactose finish. The taste is sweet malts, lactose, faint nutty notes, tart notes and bitter hops. Medium bodied. Decent.

Pours deep brown into a shaker. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet oatmeal and milk chocolate aromas. Thick upfront with chocolate and oatmeal turning dry and metallic in the abrupt finish.

I usually can’t stand sweet stouts, but this one is pretty decent. The "milkiness" of the beer comes across in the palate and the sweet milk flavor, some caramel, some brown sugar, but it is better balanced than most.
