Oakes (8072), gone rambling, Vietnam Apr 10, 2009 Medium brown. No real head. The nose is fairly chocolatey, a bit fudgey. Pretty straightforward chocolatey character. The sweetness comes out as it warms. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Aug 27, 2006 (12oz bottle) Medium brown head atop black body. Aroma is medium sweet, coffee, oatmeal, some cocoa. Taste is medium sweet, chocolate, some grape, light lactic. Creamy medium body, low acidity, nicely drinkable. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Feb 18, 2007 Courtesy of Coldbrewky. This is my very first Milk Stout, so I had absolutely no idea what it would be like. The color is black/brown, the head is golden, creamy and nice. The aroma has a slight milky sourness and so does the flavour, but it’s not unpleasant and doesn’t feel like an infected beer. I also get notes of chocolate and cocoa and a bit of coffee. The overall impression is a rather weak stout, but it was very nice to experience a typical Milk stout, thank you Steve. 1892 bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Feb 25, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of roastiness, lactose, cocoa, and oatmeal. Flavor of roasted malt, coffee, semi-bitter chocolate, and some caramel with a dry finish. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 19, 2007 Bottle sampled on 9/16/07: Pours a mostly opaque with dark mahogany edges and a frothy, wispy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet dark chocolate caramel with some lightly roasted notes. Body starts sweet and dark chocolatey with good malted milk flavor and a smooth, full body. Nicely-balanced, enjoyable and unique. A great sweet stout. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Aug 11, 2009 on tap–pours a light brown head and dark brown color. Aroma is rich dark malt-chocolate/some coffee, lactose/sweet, some earthy hops. Taste is rich dark malt-chocolate/some coffee, smoky, lactose/sweet, some earthy hops. Soft carbonation. Occasional. MartinT (5030), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 8, 2006 Any first impressions?
-A sheet of head recedes to a ring around opaque darkness.
-Vanilla-tinged maltiness is covered in timid roastiness; nothing really attracts, but this spells well-crafted.
-Dark chocolate and vanilla sweetness are deepened by cheerful cherry undertones.
-An appropriate CO2 dosage leaves full view of the very well malted, suave mouthfeel.
What if you dig deeper?
-Dark fruit and molasses unite to dominate the finish, yielding only a smidge of roastiness.
-The nourishing mouthfeel is definitely my favorite feature here.
-The malt’s sweetness builds in the aroma upon warming.
-This is a competent sweet stout, no doubt very fine for sessions.
Bottle; no date.
