boboski (1095), Alabama, USA Mar 31, 2007 Small brown head, mediocre retention. Black body, somewhat opaque, ruby tinges. Aroma is sweet malts, both roasty and chocolatey, light coffee, oatmeal, mild vanilla. A pleasant enough nose, if not timid in its expression. Flavor is more chocolate and light, sweet roast, very lightly acidic. Lactic acid is noticeable and appropriately dispersed. Finishes bittersweet, thin and brief, mild roast lingering. Palate is creamy, light-medium to medium bodied. This is a very drinkable beer, nicely done; very reserved and placating. No doubt a wonderful addition to a long session.
pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 30, 2009 On tap at gingerman... Pours a dark cola brown with a thin light beige head... Aroma of roast and bitter tart chocolate notes...Flavors of soft roast and a touch of lacto sourness at the very end. Very light on carbonation and pretty thin body. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 29, 2009 Bottled. Poured clear medium brown with a short, well-retained cap of tan head. The aroma picked up sweet, milky chocolates, a pinch of honey, and toasted black patent malts accented by light earth.. more honey and milky sweetness as it warmed up. The flavor opened with sweet milky sugars, chocolate, and more black patent malt on the front, with a blend of rather generic dark malts at the core (kinda buttery).. finished with slightly tart milky chocolates, a little vanilla, and more black malt. Medium-bodied, sweet, and well-carbonated on the palate.. a little too buttery, but it kept a decent feel. Lots of solid components resulting in a decent beer. scubasteev (4), Albany, New York, USA does not count Sep 28, 2009 Keegan Ales are simply amazing. Had a chance to visit the brewery this summer with some friends. Had a wonderful time. The addition of Joe Mama’s Milk has been a big success! I know they won some awards at TAP New York also. They deserve all the accolades they get! Best brewery in New York hands down! glennmastrange (807), hobe sound, Florida, USA Sep 27, 2009 Bottle. Moderate malt aroma of toasted, resin for the hops, light leather for the yeast, with background notes of charcoal and cola. Head is small, fizzy, light brown with some thin lacing but good legs and is fully diminishing. Color is dark brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and finishes moderately acidic and bitter Palate is light to medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation and a dry finish. Missing some of the sweetness that’s supposed to be in a Sweet Stout, but I still liked it as an an easy drinking beer. CUJO (339), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 19, 2009 pint glass: def dark and creamy... but I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. I got all the different flavors, textures that I was expecting and there is nothing offensive about the beer... just didn’t thrill me! zdk (180), New York, USA Sep 16, 2009 pours black with small tan head. Nose is a little weak, sweet chocolate and coffee. The taste, though, is incredible. Rich chocolate and coffee, creamy body and milky taste. yum! kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Aug 26, 2009 12 oz bottle via Mys Swap 4.0 (thanks j12601). Pours almost black with an average size compact beige head. Nose is coffe, vanilla, chocolate. Taste is like it smells with some lactose and almond flavors too. Body is light/medium, carbonation is medium. A tasty sessionable milk stout that would make mother proud if she saw how much you grew from the healthy brew. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Aug 11, 2009 on tap–pours a light brown head and dark brown color.
