Average size darker tan creamy head that left some nice lacing. Aroma of coffee grinds, cocoa, roasted malts, some vanilla. Was starting to pick up some coffee with cream and light sugar as this warmed. Flavor was more of the roasted malts, the coffee grinds, dark chocolate and lactose. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 5, 2007 Pour an opaque black with a tan head that fades slowly to a solid cap with good lacing. The aroma is a bit sour. Nose is of roasted malt, burnt coffee, licorice, milk chocolate, oatmeal and cardamom. Nice creamy, yet slightly tingly mouthfeel. Sweet, milky, malty flavour with notes of coffee and bittersweet cocoa and hop finish. The sourness is apparent in the taste too. Good drying, heavy body gives the brew great palate duration. Flavor is just awesome, very silky chocolate flavor with some good roasty malt sweetness. Just a shade sweeter than I would like it to be, but a beer this sweet always has it’s time and place. If I were able to purchase this more often I indeed would!
