Embrouille (2803) - SWITZERLAND - FEB 18, 2010
Bottled 50cl. My version was at 6.2 ABV. It pours a clear pale golden beer with a quick diminishing small white head. Remarkably hoppy aroma with a nice pale malt back. Sweetish smooth taste. Low carbonation. Medium to full bodied. A very nice hoppy heller bock with plenty of character.

Draught at Pig’s Ear 2009, pale straw colour with not much head. Clean hoppy dry-grassy smell, rich malty body with sweetcorn notes and a herby hoppy finish. Lovely.

Ober (2806) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - NOV 6, 2009
Tap @ Bockbierfestival 2009. A clear golden colored beer, with a white head. The aroma of malts with yeast. A little grassy with fruits. The taste is a little bitter with sweets. The aftertaste is sweet with hints of bitter.

Bottle from De Bierkoning. Golden with a medium, lively head. Sweet and grassy aroma, repeated in the flavours. Not very bitter, some hints of bread. A bit boring and too much like a dortmunder.

3fourths (7797) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 20, 2009
bottle at keesman in bamberg. called heller bock. rich clear gold body with a fine off-white head. nose of candied sweet/crystalline hop resin and pale cracker/biscuit malts with a small note of honeysuckle and sweetened greens (sugar snap peas). full and hefty body, little bit of acidity and sharpness across the middle, a little lactic, more of this green bean/sugar snap pea character. minimal bitterness, honey sweet malts mainly, finished a little oily, a little syrupy. good but not great.

On tap at Wildeman. Golden body with quick-receding head. Herbal nose. Spicy with taste of caramel and sweetbread. Has a nice bite to it. Prickly mouthfeel. Quite enjoyable. A different type of Bock than I am used to.
