The spirit of the India Pale Ale these days seems to be in-your-face bitterness. Keg Creek has steered away from this philosophy and has gone back to the drawing board, creating an American IPA centered around hop flavor. With a medium-light mouth feel and a caramel presence, the body becomes a literal palette for our hoppy creation. Not as bitter as some and darker than most, you will not be disappointed with this IPA, as Columbus, Cascade, and Chinook hops come together to dance on your tongue. What music are they dancing to? Well, thatís up to you.

Draft at Keg Creek. Amber color with a nice amount of carbonation. Aroma shows me plenty of caramel, light earthy pine hops. Just maybe a hint of floralness.

Honestly, a very classic example of a single IPA. With the roughly 6 percent it has a nice citrus and pine profile. The Casacade and Chinook speaks out to me in this brew. Bitterness is not abrasive and it really is a IPA that was brewers made 20 years ago. I love the fact that this is a classic example, I enjoyed this!

Light orangish IPA. Not particularly on the bitter side. A decent session IPA. Jess and I tried it at the Gridiron Garage in 2015.

Bomber poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of caramel, grapefruit zest, lemon zest and light tangerine. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of caramel, earthiness and light grapefruit zest with a crisp dry moderatly bitter finish.

Pours a clear deep amber with a small white head. Aromas of some citrus, some pine notes. Taste is soapy, buttery hops. Solid malt back bone. Tin mouthfeel, low carbonation. Meh.

on tap-thin offwhite head with trailing lace. A-pine, med malt. T-resin hops with some bite, med malt-caramel. Was close to a 3.8, by the end of the pint, a still enjoyable 3.6

Qualifier: I don't like IPAs. But it smells like a weed patch and tastes like poison ivy. Not good at all. Nice caramel color though...

Tap at el Bait Shop. Copper body with a light kahki head. The nose has grapefruit and caramel. The taste is bitter bread crust, with some peanuts. A bitter citrus bite. Absolutely solid IPA.

Dig if you will a picture, myself at El Bait Shop this evening... curious about a new tap handle that doesnít do much to stick out. I ask the bartender what "Keg Creek IPA" is... He tells me itís a pretty great IPA from Glenwood Iowa. My eyebrow raises in general mistrust. Keg Creek? Iowa? Glenwood? "pretty good IPA"? Before I can debate the merits of this beer the bartender has a sample in front of me. He walks away... comes back... I order a pint. I imagine this similar scene has been played out a few times since this lovely beer went on tap at El Bait Shop.

The beer pours a reddish orange color with a tight medium white head and good lace.

The aroma is grapefruit and some onion, cat-box, lotís of fresh hops, and a tad bit of peppery character was also fairly easily detected.

The flavor is bitter & has distinct Grape-Fruit flavor. The beer is basically dry but fruity enough with a tad touch of sweetness. There is a great expression of Simcoe hops all together.
When it comes to "red" IPAs and brash use of Simcoe hops my little IPA alarm starts sounding. Obviously Furious has shown us that tackling these two things can indeed make for a superb IPA... I reckon this brewery took a few cues from our Northern Neighbors.
