2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 tderoeck (3000) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAR 8, 2013
5/III/13 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: 9/I/14 (2013-215)
Clear blond to light orange beer, big fizzy dense head, crackling (sound), falling down quickly, little adhesive. Aroma: pretty sweet, ripe banana, orange blossom, bit yeasty, sugary. MF: a bit too much carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet, sugary start, some dairy, defined yeasty character, some banana, bit spicy. Aftertaste: yeast, more banana, sweet and sugary, little bitter but not much, bit sourish, might be the carbon, pretty chemical ending, alcohol noticeable, warming the throat. You can do better than this, Van Steenberge!

Classic-looking tripel from 12oz into Duvel glass. Light gold with a sturdy white head. Really pleasant aroma of light grain and smooth funk. Really smooth on palate and harmonized flavor. Especially like this one since I live 5 minutes from the Keizersberg abbey and it’s beautiful to walk the grounds in the fall!
