Draft. Well-hidden alcohol. Lots of peach/apricot sweetness. Aromas are yeasty and cobwebby, with a significant malt presence. Full, malty body. I’m surprised at the low rankings here. Maybe a difference between bottles and the tap. Doesn’t taste like it would age well -- that’s sure.

On tap at the Sharp Edge Beer Emporium. Hazy dark gold with a white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, caramel, and slightly musty. Flavor is pears, apples, oranges, caramel, slight alcohol, slight musty cheese, wheat. This beer warrants more than the current average rating of 3.27.

Bottled(330ml). –Shared with Doggythedog at the Hopdevil in Zagreb
Clear yellow coloured, medium sized white head, acidic nose. Aroma is malty and yeasty with slight citrusy and strong metallic notes. Weak for 9.0%ABV.

Bottle at the Hopdevil shared with ozujsko
Poured a big, thick white head that went away really very slowly. Murky golden/yellow colour. Just some lemony acidity in the nose. Hm. The taste is metallic...some not-all-that-brilliant hopiness emerges, and not-quite-appealing yeastiness, some ok maltiness, lemon and a very faint hint of eggs. Blah. Hoped for better. A lot better. The third and the worst of the 9% golden Belgians we’ve had tonight.

Glouglouburp (6022) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 18, 2006
Clear yellow body with a long lasting large white head. Light alcoholised-pastry aroma. Almost muffin-like bready malt. Citrusy and very yeasty. Very sweet without being sugary. Alcohol well hidden. Very good beer but with so many similar Strong Belgians to chose from this one is unfortunately forgettable. “kaiser”sberg with bready malt… makes sense.

Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 14, 2006
Light yellow colored, little white head. Cloudy appearance. Spicy and somehow tangy yeast aroma with fruits. Medium to full bodied. Flavor has also some tangy yeast tones dominating, also fruits, spices and mild alcohol can be found. High carbonated palate.

chriso (7396) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 14, 2006
Bottle, RBESG, August 2006. Didn’t really make much of an impression on me, which, for a strong Belgian isn’t much of a recommendation. Blonde. Mildly yeasty. Slightly sweet. Boozy afterburn. Not much spice in evidence (although muy assumption that it was aiming for a tripel style seems to be wrong). That’s all I have.

JorisPPattyn (7970) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - APR 23, 2006
Draught Clear orange-gold with olive hue; huge beige head. Very fresh yeast smell, as above an open fermenter. Some coloured pale malts; alcohol & something milky. Bitter-sweet taste, almondy or frangipane with again some yeasty esters. And lots of alcohol (very much again the Van Steenberge stamp, which was missing completely in the nose). Alcoholburn, even when limited; slick and well-bodied, less than habitual tripel fermentation. Nose was puzzling - blind, I’d have said De Koninck - ducts? But the rest is more typica; heavy, not easy drinking, very much MF.

Magnum corked bottle, 2001, 4 years old
Cloudy blond color. Very nice aroma, dry, spicy, malty, light cork, sweetness. Good body, malty, spicy, bitter. One of the best samples of triple, incredible how it doesn’t show it’s age after 4 years!
