Bottle from Peckham’s. Pours a dark ruby colour with a nice light tan head. Aroma of pickled onion, coffee and treacle. Quite a weird beer. Flavours of coffee, treacle and some Ovaltine before sour lemon and pickled onions creep in. Thin but foamy. The upfront malt dies away early leaving a lemony onion character. Metallic linger. At first I thought this was terrible, however, it is growing on me!

Bottle from Scottish Real Ale Shop. Brown colour, tan head. This a massive caramel malts bomb. Caramel and toffee all over the place. This is really poorly done.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. It’s a clear, dark brown beer with a small, beige head. Rather rubbery on the nose, with licorice, some caramel notes and charcoal. The flavor has some of the same caramel, charcoal and rubber, all in a sort of of pleasnt way. Medium body, pleasant carbonation. The bitter is roasted and licorice-like. A strange one indeed, but sort of nice anyway. 110415
