Beese (2560) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 2, 2014
Cask at GBBF 2012. Poured a near black, with a dense beige head. Aroma was very hard to discern; some dark malt, spice and sweet fruit. Fairly light mouth feel. Liquorice and mild roast malt flavours, with caramel. Finish was burnt sugar, prunes and treacle.

Gravity cask at Twickenham Beer Festival. Black, small bubbly tan head. Aroma is molasses, coffee breath. Body is very light, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is thin, watery, some light malt and coffee coming through but the overall impression is a very mild and sweet beer.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 22 Nov 2013) Black colour with brief, frothy head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of chocolate, coffee and dark fruit. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, coffee, dark bread, raisins, prunes and a generous roasty bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Well made and tasty porter. Very nice.

Cask at white horse. It pours black with a small beige head. The nose is roasted malt, light smoke, rubber, bonfire and liquorice. The taste is wood, earth, roasted malt, tangy dark fruit, berry, toast, charcoal and coffee grinds with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Rather tasty and well-rounded.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2012, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX.

Clear dark black brown colour with a average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, strong coffee, dark dark roasted. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark dark roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120807]

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2012 Cask at Woodin’s Shades, Nicholson’s, London. Pours clear, dark brown with a sturdy, beige foam head. Pleasant roasted malt aroma, hints of flinty minerals, light dirt. Light sweet flavor with dry, roasty malts, very mellow chocolate, light burnt toast, hints of earthy bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Some burnt sugars to finish, earth, light wood, burnt toast, mild minerals, touches of baking cocoa. An average porter. (3.5)

Cask at GBBF 2012, London. Clear, rich brown with a fine, beige foam head. Nice and roasty overall, some charred toast and milky cocoa. Very nice.(3.8)

From cask at Half Way House. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and chocolate. Bitter, roasted, breadish and dark chocolate. Dry roasted and lingering malty. Bitter and roasted malty finish.
