Cask at Babbity Bowster, Glasgow. A fine session bitter, just the right balance between full malty sugar and the Briitsh hoppiness which makes a fine cask vibrate on the tongue. A little sourish edge in the finish. Nice!

Cask at Babbity Bowster, Glasgow on 23 April 2010. Gold with thin white head. Vibrantly citric and hoppy with a bitter aftertaste. Zingy mouthfeel and enjoyable throughout. So far was best beer tasted on my Scottish trip last spring.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2006 Interesting, I thought it would be the last beer from Kelburn on the list, but no, there is another one yet. It was very bitter but only like that, nothing to regret about. The name and clip are from a place close to Glasgow which i don’t know, but sounds nice.

Multiple cask half-pints at NERAX on 5/5/07
Smattering of foamy, off-white head that shows moderate retention and no lacing, tops this copper-bronze-amber colored beer. Bright condition, with light carbonation visible.
Sulphur nose. Lots of sulphur. In fact, all sulphur. Nothing notable makes it through the wall of sulphur. Maybe some light malt sweetness and a pinch of citrus, but it’s not strong enough to penetrate for long.
And then, in probably the strangest thing I’ve encountered with cask ale, the flavor is approaching one of the best I’ve had. Absolutely clean and highly flavorful. Weird! Supple pale maltiness is well-attenuated and herbal and floral hops taste fresh and keep the flavor light. Juicy esters and tons of fruitiness, but with the clean, soft malt backing, they never dry the palate out too much. Wonderfully balanced, tending on the sweet side, but without the breadiness and toastiness of many in the style. More woody-malt character and almost a glimpse of chocolate sweetness, but then back to the hops which cleanse the palate nicely on the end. Lightly salty, mineral-laden flavors from the signature house yeast that always makes Kelburn fun. Medium carbonation is fairly tight, keeping the beer wonderfully drinkable. No flaws/alcohol in the flavor. Pity ’bout the nose!

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2008 This was called misty may when i got it im sure, though my eyes seem to not see so well by this time. An aroma of cirtusy hops. Taste is also quite hoppy with grapefruit playing around, and other fruits too, though the bitterness is a little too much from what the fruityness says. RERATE: This has changed recently into some sort of tangarine based amazing pale hoppy bitter. Excellent stuff anf probably my fav beer from kelburn at the moment.

Cask conditioned at Blackfriars, Glasgow. Amber coloured beer, low head, nice lacing. Nice aroma, malty with noticeable tropical fruits (aromatic hops). Nice hoppy flavour, lots of citrus / tropical fruits on a decent malty base.
