3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - FEB 3, 2012
Tasted this in Babbity Bowsers, Glasgow in December 2009. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear pale amber in colour with a thin off white head. Pleasant floral aroma of elderflowers and fresh spruce. Thin but refreshing mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give strong juicy fruit notes of kiwi and tart gooseberry. Spicy notes of hop resins give a bitter bite to the decent aftertaste but are not that overpowering. Finish is sweet and slightly malty with grapefruit notes present in the mouth. A very decent session bitter and much superior to Tartan Army.

Cask @ Cafe Royal. Amber with tight head. Aroma has butterscotch, and spicy gingerbread. Thin in body. Lingering bitterness in teh finish. Nice toastiness. The middle is too doughy. The hops and a bit of acidity at the end are helpful. Has session potential.
