COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
Named after a local blacksmiths, this beer is complex in character as is fitting for a championship winning ale. Red Smiddy is a smooth, dry ale with a unique spicy aroma and flavour. Its reddish hue, warm glow and tight head gives it a presence that makes it stand out against its competitors

Ruby red colour, with a white-off white head. Aroma was rich in malt, biscuit, caramel, a hint of coffeee, with a faint hint of hops. Taste was very well balanced, very drinkable. The texture was oily, could have been a bit more on the palate- it felt a little thin. Overall a tasty beer, would buy another.

Aroma: Weak aroma of red fruit and lightly roasted malt.

Appearance: Hazy rose body with a thin off-white head. No visible carbonation. Great lacing.

Taste: Malty with juicy strawberry and plum hints. Light, soft flavours.

Palate: Thin to medium body with an oily texture. Flat carbonation.

Overall: A fruity, moreish Bitter. Easy drinking without having a great deal of flavour.

Pint @ Brass Monkey, Edinburgh. Aroma of biscuit, grassy, alcohol. Pours reddish, amber, no head, clumsy glass. Spicy taste, weak, grainy. Not my favorite taste. No sparkling, unpleasant aftertaste. Weak brew.

On cask at Cloisters. Pours a reddish amber colour with a fair white head. Aroma of grassy hops, toffee, caramel and alcohol. Similar flavours with moderate carbonation, light CO2 prickle and a foamy mouth-feel. Nicely bitter also.

Cask at Kays Bar. Amber with a beige head. Fruity malt aroma. Flavour of clashing fruit and caramel leading to a bitter finish. A bit thin. Not so bad.

On tap @ the Haymarket. Pours amber with a proportionate head. The nose is fruity rather than biscuity, and this follows through to the taste. There is a little toffee too! The palate is medium bodied and textured, clean but just slightly. astringent on the end. Overall, solid but not amazing, a light summer bitter I think!
