UPDATED: FEB 22, 2013 Cask at the Fat Cat, Sheffield on 6th February 2010. Golden copper with lasting white head. Initially crisp, bitter and citric-hoppy with a burst of nuttiness. Refreshingly easy drinking with a smooth mouthfeel and a fairly dry finish. Re-rating 19th January 2013: cask at the same location. Rating values unchanged - mark of consistency. Citric and grassy hop with these flavours dominating from aroma to finish, mouthfeel somewhat zingier this time.

Cask in the market porter. Alround rating: Caramel, toffee apples, ruby sweet malts, the balance is a hay hop character. On the sweet side, but alright.

Cask conditioned - handpump Racehorse, Northampton. A copper/gold coloured beer with a loose white head, and good lacing. The aroma has a little citrus hoppiness. The taste is fairly fruity and has nice hops. Easy drinking and clean. Fairly easy drinking but goes down nicely.

Cask at Battersea Beer Festival, 11th Feb 2009. Amber, little condition. Heavy on the palate. Quite sweet, lacking in hops. A real disappointment.

Cask, gravity, at Bedford BF ’08. Copper. Musty, dusty, resiny aroma: a description that does it no justice. Very evocative, but of what exactly I do not know. Rough sourness and aggressive malt dominates, with some pear fruit perhaps. Some bitterness. Not a pretty beer, but engaging in a challenging sort of way.

Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, roasted, fruity, moderate hoppy, caramel - toffee notes. Flavor is moderate sweet amd bitter with a average duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is flat. (270708)

Cask at the Chestnut Tree, Sherwood, Nottingham. This has a pleasing copper colour with plenty of malt. There’s lots of caramel and roasted flavours with some floral hops on the finish. I wouldn’t go out of my way to have it again, but it’s not at all bad.
