4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Clear golden body with a medium white head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of orange pith, grain and lime. Flavour of pale malt, grassy hops and orange. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel Soft fizz. An exceptionally clean Pale Ale. This reminded me of Fyne Ales’ Hurricane Jack.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask. No great scent more grain than hop but some faint citrus. Pour golden with thin lace top. Taste wise it’s a hoppy pale with a definite bitterness lingering on the palate. Overall nothing special.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask at The Earl Grey Inn, Leek. A clear golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma of grain, slight wheat, subtle cereal, some grapefruit, maybe peach and floral hops. Taste of grain, slight wheat, some grapefruit, a little peach, grass and floral hops. Medium bodied and an oily texture. A dry, lingering, floral hop bitterness in the finish. A big floral hop bitterness in this, balanced with, maybe unappealing, malts. A drinkable strong pale ale but Kelham Island and other breweries do better than this.

Bottle - clear pale yellow, decent white head. Fruity, floral aroma - initial sparkling but ok tongue / mouth. Smooth, lemony citrus flavour - good aftertaste. Nice beer.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Asda. Bright gold. Barely a head. Aroma is all buttery, malty nonsense. A bare trace of hop. Taste is sweet, then bitter. Hard to elaborate on. Chewy palate. Finishes metallic bitter.
