Thanks to Gavin for providing the bottle! Pours a sun-yellow color, with a small white head, leaving back a small lacing, covering the whole surface of the beer. Offers a great mix of herbacious, leafy hops and caramelized, slightly earthen malts. Its malt foundation grows more prominent than the hops are, turning a tad sweeter, with a balancing earthiness to it. Has a lower carbonation, together with an enjoyable light body. The malts shine in this without any distraction from metallic, coppery carbonation flaws, gently balanced by the hops. Tastes of hay, wheat, white bread and bready, soft malts. A fair amount of grassy, slightly herbal hops add to this convincing foundation, creating a very clean taste. During the finish, the hops turn stronger, revealing an enjoyable bitterness, which lets the malts rotate in an even earthier direction, with a subtle toffee note cutting through. Very tasty sessionable beer, whichs key player are the malts. Those feature a nice sweetness, which gets wrapped up by english hops and unusual, wood bark inspired earthiness. Almost exhibits a spiced peak, as the bitterness becomes more pronounced.

Cask. Goldeny orange colour with a small head. Aroma is caramel malts, some bready notes as well as mild wooden, resiny and floral notes to it. Flavour is rather similar, but has a quite nice nutty and grassy approach to things. Pleasant.

Cask @ CBC Clerkenwell. The pour’s deep amber with a small head. The nose is honeyed pear, some brown bread. Rich nutty malty aromas. The taste is similarly malt focussed. More toffee, toasted bread. Slight red berry tang. Brown sugar. Dry finish. Light body, fine carbonation. Overall, a really well-rounded bitter. Everything in its right place.
