beerguy101 (3478), Newark, California, USA Aug 18, 2003 Medium gold color. Small head. Aroma is minimal but it slightly fruity and sweet. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are nutty and fruity. Maps are slightly spicy and piney. Touch of citrus, but NOT in a good way. There is also a hint of wet cardboard. Not very good at all. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. DarkElf (2661), La Jolla, California, USA Dec 2, 2004 Updated: Dec 3, 2004(12 oz bottle) This is a very bizarre beer that in no way resembles an IPA. The aroma is sour, and at first, seems like the beer is bad, but it actually smells kind of Belgian to me, so I don’t know what to expect. Well, flavorwise, it’s also pretty Belgian. It’s very fruity and fairly sour. The thing is, it doesn’t smell or taste "bad" sour, but Belgian sour. But an IPA shouldn’t resemble a Belgian, so something’s wrong. Pours a huge, light tan head that falls away like real root beer, but maintains a thin layer. Ruddy amber color and quite cloudy. Lacing is a combination of big chunks and patchy rings. This is a must retry to see what the hell is going on. Drew (2376), Kent, Ohio, USA Apr 28, 2004 Great IPA - poured dark brown with hints of orange - looks very thick - not really hazy, just thick, like you know it’s gonna be chewey. Yeahhhhh - this is a thick and smooth brew. Top to bottom it’s filled with warm, well rounded hops - lot’s of oaky notes, pitted fruits (with the pits thrown in for good measure); this has more than it’s share of malts as well - chewy sweet and toffee. (I’m thinking of Bigfoot on tap also). Finish is warm with alcohol and lingering bitternes - a few spritzes of grapefruit juice. Excellent - thanks Ernie! jazz88 (2205), San Francisco, California, USA Nov 29, 2003 Tap @ Bistro 6th Annual IPA Festival (August 9, 2003). Hazy amber color with a tan head. The aroma was a bit off and lacked the hops that I found the rest of the beers at this festival. Some citrus in the aroma and almost lager like. bb (2088), Martinez, California, USA Apr 30, 2005 Draft. Rich copper beer with a big beige head. Malty aroma with some citrus hops - less hop aroma than expected. Caramel malts with citrus hop flavors. Balanced but leving a nice bitter feel.
