3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DrnkMcDermott (2450) - Downers Grove, USA - SEP 6, 2005
Draft, rating from 2001 notes. This is from some of the first notes I started taking on beer, so details are a little hazy. I wrote down "little darker than expected – but great hop head." I can’t say this far down the road that’s great compared to the nearly 700 beers I had since then, but the overall beer drinking experience gets extra points for the ambiance of the place. This was a glorified BOP when I visited, so most likely it came from extract.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Oakes (10215) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 24, 2011
I had something called ’Session IPA’ - not sure if this is the same. Hazy straw-tan. Funky, dirty aroma. Light hop bitterness. Extracty and flawed, though the hops cover it up at least a little bit.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jcwattsrugger (9061) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - JUL 5, 2011
on tap-pours an off white head that laces and hazy gold/amber color. Aroma is resin/herbal (cascade), secondary medium malt. Taste is resin/herbal (cascade), secondary medium malt-bready.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 decaturstevo (3669) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - MAR 1, 2011
Gold pour with white head and lace. Aroma is bready earthy hops. Flavor is bread and earthy resiny hops. Flavor is bready with light caramel malt and a decent resiny bitter. Slightly unbalanced for me but an ok beer.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ketchepillar (904) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - OCT 6, 2010
On tap at Brewpub. This was a fine IPA. A little too sweet, too much caramel, but not terrible. A little underhopped, particularly the aroma. What was there, was nice. A bit dirty malty.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 badlizard (4410) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 13, 2010
Deep copper color with a fizzy white head. Citrus hops aroma and taste with a good bitter bite and a decent caramel taste.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 geherald (8) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - AUG 3, 2008 does not count
Draft at Kelly’s Brewpub. Average IPA at best, and reminiscent of the rest of Kelly’s beers. The resturant and pub is fun, even in the beer is not the best in town.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 SoylentBlack (109) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - MAR 4, 2005
IPAs are my favourite, and while this isn’t the best out there, paying $1.50 per bomber when brewing your own just cannot be beat. An average IPA.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jeppe (2633) - Ølbutikken, DENMARK - AUG 30, 2004
Draught at Kellys Restaurant & Brewpub, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Deep hazy orange beer with a fine off-white head. Lots of hops in the aroma, fruity and flowery also. Really nice and full. Flavor reveals a classic american IPA. Plenty of hops with some malty and nutty tones behind the bitterness. Soft and smooth and really delicious. Too easy too be a top notch.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MrRomero (1964) - Nolanville, Texas, USA - APR 13, 2004
Poured light amber with a thick off white head. Has an earthy aroma. Moderately hopped and mild malt. Bitter finish. Average at best and missing lots of flavor found in the IPAs I like best.
