BREWMUSKCLES (787), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Jul 6, 2008 a different kind of mouthfeel tempered as it is such good beer. crisp and clear indeed. refreshing and very flavorful. generous hop character pine and citrus. strange carbonation that works with this great flavor profile. a bit sweet and still bitter towards the end of the flavor profile. different and impressive. hop spice is great just a true craft beer. bravo!
Rciesla (813), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Oct 1, 2008 Draft at ginger man. Pours a la moderate golden body with light head. A slight tart flavor of pear and citrus fruit. A bit spicey. Bready then then hoppy to the finish, a strange twist on a pale ale. Rastacouere (5343), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Sep 29, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A weird match-up between a sour ale and a hoppy ale.
I like:
Never too sweet. Pleasantly grapey which was more or less the purpose of the beer.
I dislike:
Clashing aggressive hoppiness removes the focus from the fruit and scratches the finish. Not particularly interesting yeast profile with its raw bread and sourdough notes. Hard to drink in the end. Not so classy bubble gum peaks.
sheatripper (826), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 22, 2008 Draught at Fette Sau. Hazy amber pour with a small frothy white head. Tart fruity aroma-- lemon, green apple, green grapes. Flavor of light malts with a champagney acidity. Notes of lime, grapefruit and minerals. Finishes citrusy with a mild woody dryness. Actually comes across as something like a hybrid of SNPA and a New Zealand Sauv. Blanc, which I guess was the intent. Personally, I’m not sold on the smoky/sweet meat pairing suggestion (I was thinking more along the lines of grilled fish, etc.), but an interesting and refreshing concoction from the local boys. Glouglouburp (1997), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 26, 2008 In short: A problematic fruity kind-of-Pale-Ale. Felt tired and old (probably bad conditioning)
How: Tap at Fette Sau
The look: Clear golden body topped by a small off-white head
In long: Nose of old orange juice and extra-ripe citrus fruits. Boring doughy malt profile, a bit too yeasty for its own good, ripe tropical fruits, a bit dirty, some wet grass and citrus in the finish. An overall feeling of an “old beer”. Once again I think the conditioning was the problem. Are the kegs at Fette Sau left under the sun? Weird because the two pints I had at Fette Sau were wrong and I felt that it was the conditioning and not the beer recipe that was the problem. Man, this place offers worst conditioning than the brainwashing communist school that Bill Gates went to. acrdz (4362), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 7, 2008 Big, funky plastic grape and floral nose. Oily texture, medium to full body, medium dryness on the back, nothing extreme. Fruity, light, tart, yeast is noted throughout, but overall it just doesn’t go anywhere. Good but not great.
